battery drain fix: lock the ignition. there's some complicated instructions in a user manual addendum. Lock: put ignition switch in lock position, make sure the blue ring is illuminated, hold the key fob bottom button (its got a key on it) until the little led on the key fob flashes red, then let go. Unlock: illuminate the blue ring again, hold the key button down until it flashes green, and let go. but i still have a battery charger cable attached to the battery and accessable from under the seat. its a PITA to install, but ya only have to do it once. i had to install a long seat to fix ergonomics, having my butt that close to handlebars was making my back hurt. sometimes my ignition get stuck in a broken state and the bike wont start, starter motor not given power. going through the whole lock and unlock process seems to fix it.

This disables the alarm so the the bike isn't constantly searching for the fob hence draining the battery?

Pros: Cheap to run and maintain, reliable, chain guard, semi-automatic, led lights, tubeless tyres, MPG, keyless ignition, lightweight, protection from the fairing. Cons: Battery compartment, single seat, no USB. ::::::::::: I have 4 bikes and its always the cub that gets the most attention, it's fantastic.

Plastics hard to get off without breaking something, only one brand of tyre available, does not come with a rack, physically small for average humans, expensive compared to Indian and Chinese value, no kickstarter spoils the classic vibe
@Chronosmaster0023 ай бұрын
And most of the cons can be corrected with easy mods. Battery tender with USB adapter to not deal with the battery compartment and to charge my phone, though the battery is tiny, and a long seat to fit my fat ass on the cub

The Cub, in its various forms, is the best, that's number 1 selling vehicle ever produced on this planet, so Honda got it right and gets it done! The battery issue should be a no brainer, my son has the Trail 125 and it has a kick starter and some ,not all 125 Cubs, have a kick starter. Search well or order a kick start model.👍

I liked my metropolitan but I live in dirt roads area and dust, gravel, etc hit the back at the muffler and it would affect the motor. I'm waiting for the Trail or Yamaha PG1 if it comes because of muffler height.

How often do you check the chain for lubrication and adjustment? In time the chain will stretch and adjustment is needed, correct?
@Dailycozwerks4 ай бұрын
Every 500 miles is typically ideal. It may not need adjustment every time, but it will benefit from a cleaning and some lubrication.

@@Dailycozwerks I was watching a video of people in London having their Royal Enfield stolen. They smash the display where the turnkey is, and just conect wires.it starts right up. The police call it joyriding. The thieves they end up destroying the bikes riding them through fields and crashing over and over. I think the super cup is impossible to start without the fob or the little backup cards that slide in. I like that you always try to put a positive light on things and have a happy attitude. Why can't the Honda Super Cub be a 250cc? It's 2024. Elon Musk engineered reusable rockets. Just do it.

@@tigonridge ... and I say it's a false dichotomy. Honda could easily make a lightweight, nimble, reliable 250cc Super Cub. It may cost slightly more the 4k but at least riders will have greater choice.
@tigonridge6 ай бұрын
@@davidhunternyc1If it's easy, it would've been done already. Powerful, large engines require stronger, larger frames for stability. They need larger transmissions to go with, which altogether require larger suspension. It's not as simple as putting something powerful into a tiny, light package. That's a fool's errand. Many car manufacturers have tried it, and ended up compromising in one big way or another, e.g. European manufacturers with their horribly expensive (to buy AND own) and unreliable vehicles, with low life expectancy. It's only an illusion of "greater choice."

Totally agree with your comments. I love my Cub. It's Five Stars! lol! Love the 132 MPG and it's ease of entry but hate that it didn't come with a side stand. I had to spend a bunch to get an Asian OEM 'upgrade' but with a kick stand, the bike is SOOO much better!

I had similar thoughts about the ignition, and other areas which are only accessible with a working/running battery. i talked, and complain, about this with a bunch of buddies and during this i think i got it. and at the moment i think it is a very, very good system. because, if you think about the main target group for this bike, it makes more sense. because this is primary a commute bike, with the main target region of south east asia. not north america (yours) or europe (mine). considering this two things, it makes sense to have a relatively secured bike (electric ignition, keyless, accessibility like gas or tools area only with running battery/ignition) makes a lot of sense in a highly dense region, with a lot of interested eye. the only way to highjack it fast is to lift it up and move into a transporter. with the lock and the alarm system, you can't just hijack it on the street in a couple of seconds like other scooters, without taking out the battery first. And taking out the battery, or even disable it, takes a bit of time as everybody knows who has a super cub. You also can't simply steal gas from the tank, because you can't access it so easy during a drive/run by. And as it was (is?) the most sold motorcycle in the world, having a lot of similar looking ones around on the same parking space (again, target region is south east asia aka motorcycle/scooter-heaven), it's easier to find yours in the parking lot with a beeper ^^.

Keyless ignition and battery housing are my only complaints to an otherwise amazing little machine. I've read that if you set the alarm and leave it it'll drain in a little under two weeks. Putting a trickle charger was a bit of a headache but took under an hour to do (I did lose a screw in the body but it'll work itself out).

Battery compartment is indeed a nightmare. I don't use the plastic battery cover. (not the red cover you show, but rather the one ON the battery) I just shove a wash cloth in there to keep the battery to jiggling around. There's NO way I'd be able to put that battery cover back on.

Thanks for the vids, much appreciated. May I ask a practical question : is there any sort of helmet hook under the seat, so you can leave the helmet hanging on the bike while you’re running errands or whatever ? (Not talking about an under seat storage, has there obviously isn’t any). Can’t find the info anywhere. Thanks ! 🙏

Sadly, there is not. A rack and trunk is likely the best solution in that regard, albeit an expensive solution.

@@Dailycozwerks Ok, thanks. Kinda strange that Honda didn’t think this through, considering their engineers’ usual attention to details.
