There was quite a lot of spitting back through the carbs. That suggests to me that the inlet valves were open when the spark came. That usually means: 1 - ignition timing is well out, 2 - valve timing is out, or 3 - inlet valves aren't fully closing.

Persistence pays off. If it's right, it should start right off the bat. I like your new opening sequence 🤙

Oh dear Nat it seems you are reaching the end of your tether, persevere it'll be worth it in the end. You've had the whole thing in bits there could be a plethora of potential faults here, but I’d definitely check your timing settings. One problem at a time, get to the non working start button afterwards.

I think it almost started at 5:35, didnt it? I believe it is a wasted spark and I watched you do the timing - it looked fine. i'd double check valve clearances, compression test and new plugs. oh and I know others have mentioned about doing a test on the valves before you reassembled which is too late now , but I remember Ryan in his garage doing a leak down test with a balloon on his assembled engine

Ignition timing, I use propane gas from my blowtorch if carbs/fuelling is suspect- it's cheap. Keep at it and the engine itself seems happy enough.

The Cv carbs are a bit of a pain, but with no firing even with easy start i would check your timing again, i do think hondas use a wasted spark ignition. The other thing to check is the engine grounding to earth, ive had a spark on a cover before but not on the head.

Bloody bikes lol. Some restriction on the carbs possibly. It looked like the airbox was open with no filter on test.

Do a compression test,I sed before u fit the head to pour petrol into the valve bowls,if it leaked then the valves aren't seated properly.but try a test anyhow now it's built & use new plugwith choke on as they flood easy ... Good luck..Ian🤞

Valves out by 180? Timing sounds more likely, you've got spark, you've got compression, you've got fuel (if nothing else you've got startyabastid®). Plugs on the wrong coils, or does it run a wasted spark? I forget, haven't had a superdream since 1986 or so.

Loop out the cut off switch and get a decent battery on, 90% of carb issues are electrical. As mentioned double check your timing isn't 180 degrees out.

They take forever ever to start after a rebuild mine was same check all earths are clean even wire on too starter make sure it’s tight sometimes the starter can not be strong enough mean it’s fooked I find they start better without giving them throttle full choke they don’t seem to like both starting up also they carbs is a pain in the arse had mine off so many times I forget just persevere all ya do 😂

when I had mine in 1983, after a 2 week holiday, it would not start off the starter motor - only went off a bump start
@mauricecasey8663 ай бұрын
That is spinning over very fast which suggests lack of compression! do a test.

Plug leads transposed ?

Sounds like ignition is 180 degrees out. Are the coils correctly wired? Can you swap plugs leads over?
