Please keep these videos up man. I just got the motor out of my bike 3 days ago and I have zero idea what I'm doing. Thank you!

Ah, it’s just nuts, bolts and spanners really, one big puzzle. I need to fix the damaged internal bolts that sheered off, retaining the selector drum, pain in the back side, that’s the next job.

Excellent video series, thank you so much for documenting this process. If you only need split the case to get at the transmission, what do you reakon the minimum amount of components would need to be removed? Is removal of the heads absolutely necessary?

Yes mate as some of the case bolts are inaccessible without he heads off. I’m in the process of cleaning up all the cases, and hopefully soon will get the rebuild under way.

As soon as I saw the huge impact driver come out I had my hands on my head waiting for the inevitable. Then when the drill chuck started eating into the crank case mating surface I actually shouted out, Noooooo. Looking forward to seeing you fix these 'little' issues in the upcoming installments. Don't forget that the screw head that you drilled out was flush with the surface for a reason so there might be a clearance issue for it being a screw head rather than hex. Just saying but I am sure you will catch it later. 🙂

Yes you’re absolutely correct and more observant than me, I think the countersunk screw allows for the shift mechanism, so it’ll need careful repair with a new countersunk screw. Reference the mating surface, there’s no damage that will cause an issue, it’ll still seal.
