Thanks, Mate. Had the same issue today. 1.5 hour trip took 2.5 as I trailed along the shoulder of the road. I was thinking the same thing on issues. But I'll be looking at the fuel tubes. Thanks again.

Alright. Good to know. Bought a 2006 VTX 1800 in May, this year. Bike of my dreams, really. I got the V & H pipes, the Kuryakyn Hypercharger, but that's about it, for now. Done a trip round Europe this summer, not a problem at all. This bike is a stunner. I've never had a bike where so many people just stop what they're doing and just... stare. =) Although it's a Honda, I know that proper maintenance & service is the key to reliability. At least in my experience, but I've only had Yamaha's before. Pretty reliable bikes, them too.

Staffan den Bättre .... put a power commander on and dyno it... makes a difference... yep super reliable and a head turner... i know of a VTX with 180000kms on it and still goes like new... enjoy your torque monster...
@StevenJeNova7 жыл бұрын
180000?! ...I... don't even... I mean, the last 8 years I've driven... what... 70000 km? Yes, Power Commander is the next thing. Better air-fuel mixture etc. Heard some nice things about a Mustang seat, also. But sweet jaysus those saddle bags are so expensive, if buying 'em new, but I got to have something for next summer. Thx for the reply. =)

How was the fuel economy on the long haul around Europe as a first hand owner of one of these ? ... I´m considering one after years on a GSX 1250 touring but only getting 10-13 km/liter (as stated on the VTX specs sheet) on a big cruiser is a little daunting especially as i want to use it for touring parts of Europe also ... I mean apart from gunning it everywhere is it possible to stretch it out by just cruising... ? obviously in top gear with relativity low rpm
@StevenJeNova7 жыл бұрын
The VTX surprised me. It only took 0.58 liter gasoline per 10 km. That's fully loaded with bags. That's not shabby for an 1800. But that's riding cruising speed on the highway, 90 - 100 km/h (55 - 60 mph?).
@StevenJeNova7 жыл бұрын
I'm guessing that with Power Command it'll take even less.

Without looking at the machine, you just know this is not a Harley because. "It's been idling 10 minutes" Harley would have overheated and probably locked up by then.

All of my pals ride harleys and they keep trying to get me to buy one. It's like they respect my VTX but sorta hate it because it can smoke their bikes. They can't seem to like it or love it, but they respect it. One of those things I guess, part of the deal. I love my VTX 1800! Dead stock and it's a MONSTER.

True... doesn't take much to block breather ... if it doesn't break down in fuel the filter will collect it.. the outlet opening to feed the fuel pump is huge compared to breather... I've never had a problem...

Seems to me you just blew whatever shit was blocking your breather back up into the tank? Hopefully it doesn't foul up your fuel filter or pump.

Hi Glenno. Thanks for this video.My Son's 2003 VTX 1800R has this problem.We tried to blow the fuel breather tube out with a air compressor, like you did, but its still plugged up.Crazy!!! Is there any way to get inside the tank, to try and unplug it from that end? AND,what kind of bike are you riding now?
@glennosgarage13074 жыл бұрын
The breather comes out at fuel cap.. get a piece of tie wire or something similar that bends maybe a long cable tie and push it through hose under tank and you will see it come out near fuel cap.. Still play with KLR.. but going to sell her soon.. ive been having fun on 625SMC and my old faithful YZ426...

Usually O2 sensor is located on exhaust.... If u can't find it consult a manual.... I sold my VTX awhile ago...

Did you ever figure it out? Mines doing it too, I can shut the bike off as I’m riding, turn it back on and it clears up for about a minute. Just bought the bike ran great the first day now this! Love the bike tho, seems simple just looking to see if you got yours resolved?
@synapse35454 жыл бұрын
@@strongtowertrucking8419 Nope no idea. put in new fuel pump, there is no O2 sensor, replaced plugs, made sure no air hoses were blocked or clamped or anything. Tried a little seafoam in a fresh tank of gas, tried replacing the fuel pressure regulator (which is a pain in the ass) still same issue. Been at the shop for 3 weeks and they are swamped so thinking I won't get to ride for another week or 2 if they can even fix it
