Hi Andy hope all are ok at your end, another great vid, hope you are running the CR on Castrol R those were the days, I have finally finished the 185 today, (5 years in my cellar remember the one)after sorting out all the electrical problems, I was left with one, yes blowing headlight bulbs, I know you have spent ages on electrics with the Hondas that you have, and after going through all your fault finding procedures, I have learnt a lot, so thanks again for the great vids, after spending to much time and money on every make of 6 volt bulb in the land, and never having this problem with my original brand new 185, after voltage checks on the stator, I found I had an intermittent problem, so I took a chance on fitting a 6 volt AC regulator and touch wood it is working a treat, I simply spliced it straight into the main feed from the stator wire (yellow and white) which runs to the headlight switch. If your 500 is the same single wire from the rotor to the switch it could save time and money I picked it for £18 only time will tell, hope this helps any peeps out there who have similar problems kind regards as always Mick

Good job Andy , always remember the 6v electrics being the bain of my life in the early 80s on my xl 250 S 79' 😮😮😁😁 you seem to have the 500 electrics better than my own even though it was only two years old at the time when I had it 👍👍

The worst things about these Honda XL are the 6 volt electrics a total pain in the ass they can be a total nightmare👍

Great video Andy ! I would have been interested in how you sorted the headlight. You talked about it, but I would have liked to seen it. Maybe you haven’t actually got that far, yet.

Hi mate yes it's totally done sorry I didn't video the headline as I have done them in the past on some other videos a while ago maybe I should just do a video on how I do it to a headlight it might be helpful to a lot of people has the headlights are so expensive and hard to find mate👍

I bought my mint condition 1980 XL250s from the original owner, a friend of mine, he's careful about his possessions. Only 6,000 miles, bone stock. I'm wondering why you prefer your 250s (Wed bike) over the 500 in this video?! 250 is also my preference. The 500 is only 10 lbs heavier, that's a tiny amount, I'm wondering your thoughts please?

Hi first thing's first thank you for subscribing. Ok where do I start I love all the Honda XLS range it started when I was 17 years old and my first xl250s a 1980 . Me and that bike became one person everytime I put my leg over it was part me we was one that's probably why I love the xl250s. Back in the 80s how i long for an xl500s it took me a long time to get one many years later I managed to get one for me it was a bit like that good-looking girl school you always fancied and you finally take her out lol and you'll find out and the fantasy was better lol. Ok what I'm trying to say the 500 pulls harder than the 250 and that's about it and the top end is only about 5 mph faster. Personally I think xl250 handles a lot better or is it just me having a soft spot for the xl250. What do you think
