They need to come up with something that will keep you from locking your keys in the car. And don't most cars have a trunk latch by the front seat... it's kinda redundant.

They have that too. I assume any car with keyless ignition does not let you lock the car with the key in it. My 2014 Accord does that, so they have been doing it for at least 10 years
