These videos are great. The tips about the moist paper and the lather were excellent. Thanks for this.

Thanks for these videos, I couldn't afford to buy an expensive set of Naniwa, or Norton stones so I went this route. I found the exact same marble tile at Home Depot, and ordered the film online for $25 and was able to successfully hone my Gold Dollar 800 into perfect shave ready condition!

Good going! Me, I no longer use tile. TAP Plastics sells 3/4" acrylic cut to your specs. I order mine 3" x 12" and they are like $11 or something like that. Works great. Doesn't break. Dead flat. Lighter than stone. Looks kewl. Works great. No more stone age caveman stuff for me. There are also ebay vendors you can order from. As a bonus, the same material is a good backing for a balsa strop.

Thanks for the video Slash. Your tips are much appreciated, I just started honing with diamond lapping film and your tips made it much less confusing. See you back at B&B!

Thank you for these videos, I have a Gold Dollar aswell which I had professionally honed. I have 5 micron and 3 micron sheets and a piece of marble tile. What is your recommendation for just doing a touch up?

Finish on 1u film. 3u is only equivelant to about 8k grit. 1u is a bit finer than 12k grit. You can touch up on the 1u film as needed. Or better, a progression of lapped balsa strops very lightly treated with diamond paste. The first one .5u diamond, the second .25u, and finally .1u diamond. Then after each shave, go 50 laps on the .1u, with very little pressure, less than the weight of the razor. You may have to hold the balsa vertically to achieve such light pressure. See the "How to Use a Pasted Balsa Strop" thread on the Badger & Blade forum. It won't work if you do it wrong.
