People forgot, despite being a destination Bali is a very good place as an entry point. It's an island destination with distinctive culture by itself not a city, and from there you could go to The Mentawais, Lombok, Sumba, Telos, Banyaks, all with uncrowded white sand beaches and consistent surf waves, that's exactly what surfers do all this time, made Bali as their home, and you have endless surfing playgrounds.

I'm glad I was able to go to Bali before social media. My husband and I went to places in the late eighties/early nighties where we were the only tourists. Now hundreds of people per day go to them, eg the Water Place at Tirtagangan and the Jatiluwih rice terraces. I've been 23 times mainly to visit our Balinese friends and have been the only people invited to attend significant Balinese ceremonies. Our friends are not in the tourist industry. 😂

I have been to Bali 7 times but now my go to place is Phuket, which is not as crowded, has more interesting places better food, great beaches and costs are way less than Bali. The Thai people are terrific with tourists. Some idea of Thai prices is a full hour of massage AUD$16, beer in 7 11 $1.20 beer in restaurant $3 sunlounge on beach $4 a day. I have a full european breakfast with 3 eggs, bacon, orange juice, good coffee, toast, home made jam and fried tomatoes for $8.

You can VERY nice stuff for 2000 a month in Bali. Luxury hotels go off the name and service and Bali has some very expensive places too. The guesthouse in prime location showed before goes for around 350\400 a month if rented long term (daily like 30bucks). Always try to cover both sides 🙏🏻

Btw, Bali is building an underground train starting in September 2024, finishing in 2031. And Canggu got those black sands coz she literally facing the east part of Java, with active volcanoes ijen & Raung.
In fact, foreigners keep coming and decide to live here. But we need some haters to make Bali less crowded, I think.

I had amazing food at Dirty Duck restaurant. Got bitten by a clever monkey at the forest. I did not immediately give enough bananas so he bit my leg just so that I got scared but not injured. This is spot on, I have the same exact love/hate relationship with Bali. It was definitely a gem in 2017. It's still great but there are annoyances that get to me. Every time I leave for a while though, like you said, I start romanticizing it quite a bit and I want to go back. I started spending my down time / vacation travels in Thailand and so I've been frequenting Bali less now. I feel like both have a lot of different things to offer. If Bali had a legal cannabis scene like Thailand then I'd be swayed a lot more toward going there more frequently. Bali is great to focus, work, get healthy. Now that I stay in Malaysia, I get my focus/work time there and typically Thailand is the playground. Great video!

I have been travelling extensively through Asia for many, many years & Bali would always pull at my heart strings. I haven’t been back for 2 years now & I don’t think I will ever return. You guys miss the best time way back, you have no idea what is was like, believe me it was paradise. @@mikerubin7318 Of course, there's negatives about Bali like every other island. But, you can't deny the fact there's NONE outside Indonesia, has waves for surf as consistent and pretty good in size as Bali's waves in the entire Southeast Asia (we're not talking about culture of Bali which you don't have any interest about that). Only Mentawais and Nias come close with Bali, and thats still in Indonesia. Others are only wannabe surf destinations, like the one claim as next Bali or better Bali, but it's best waves hardly will make into top 10 waves if it's happened to be in Mentawais (talking about the meh Siargao)😂😂😂. Try looking for that outside Indo, you could go bald but will still looking for that, trust me😅. So my advice, if you think Bali is too crowded, and shit show it's easy, just go to Mentawais, Banyaks, Telos and you gonna have empty white sand beaches and amazing waves everywhere without crowds, and let's how a soulful traveller you are. That way is way better than you badmouthing Bali for nothing, juust my 2 cents.

Im praying hard Uluwatu and Ubud will not become habitat for digital nomad (no offence) like Canggu. Never mind, just take Canggu but keep the rest as how we love Bali in the past. This may be weird, but Im hoping digital nomad move to the North of Bali and help to generate the local economy there. Digital nomad live and work, they still can get the life they need there when it’s developed. The locals will open up homestay, villa, restaurants, gyms for digital nomad. For us who always visit Bali for holidays between 1-2 weeks, we dont have time to spend much time on the north, so let us enjoy other areas for relaxation, holidays. We can tolerate the narrow roads or traffics because we dont live there to go through it every single day.

How can people enjoy Bali Holiday when there is so much traffic Jam and Pollution on the island , worst than major cities south east Asia. If you want the beautipful beach and island ? There are so many beautiful beach in Viet nam Philippine, Thailand etc. Why Bali ? overated and exaggeration by tourist and media promote the island. People cant lie and say beautipful bali. Rubbish🤣

Hahha,,and by that you projecting there's no Bali's sibling islands better than places you mentioned above, here's the clues from Bali you could reach Raja Ampat, there's none better diving destination in entire southeast Asia compare to Raja. From Bali you could reach The Mentawais, there's none better surf destination in Southeast Asia compare to the Mentawais, not even close, and from Bali you could reach Kei Islands, there's none finer sand of beaches compare to Kei islands not even Boracay. So, how about that?

Bali punya segalanya.

@@terangkehidupan6442dan Bali punya 17,500s sibling islands. Tinggal pilih dari Bali mau lanjut kemana. Biasa mau Projecting, tetangga biasanya itu (most likely Filipino).

Very well put togetother video unfortunately it doesnt show the reality of bali and like so many so called influencers who are just pawns for corporate retreats the reality is that bali is overpriced and tourisim is down and given the current global economic downturn it is actually more expensive or on a par with places like Australia and some european countries when it comes to everyday living , and with the lack of tourists it becomes like a sparce forest and the dark side becomes easier to see , widespread poverty , sexual exploitation and the rubbish problem in bali is beyond a joke when will someone actually have the balls to show the emerging new mountains in bali ... not agung or batur but plastic mt .... when the new train lines connect bali to java i can only forsee its futher demise 😢

Before Bali builds a subway, it first needs waste incineration plants. Just an example: I am Swiss. Switzerland has 9 million inhabitants and 30 waste incineration plants. Bali has 4.5 million inhabitants, which means that Bali alone would need 15 waste incineration plants to deal with the waste. In Switzerland there were landfills everywhere until 1970. In Switzerland, the waste problem was recognized 60 years ago and back then society's consumption was much lower than it is today. The Swiss currently produce 700 kg of waste per capita per year, That's 2 kg per person per day... I don't know how much garbage is produced in Bali. All I know is that tourists produce a lot of rubbish... But there is still no solution to the garbage problem in Bali...

@@ursdreyer3122 And here the world is thinking places like Switzerland are clean and green paradises 🤣 ... its amazing that throughout Europe incineration is used to dispose of waste but Europe clamps down on citizens who burn wood or natural products like peat for heating there homes .... on another topic the average wage in bali is 99k IDR per hour and for people like nurses you can earn 300M per annum which is nothing in relation to Western standards but if one considers bali standards it works out around 6million a week and given you can get a beach front apt for 600k pw and food for 300k pw and rent a new scooter for maybe 1.5m pw with insurances and all the fruit one is still left with 4m pw to live which is a shite load of money compared to whats left from an average wage package in Western countries .... I ponder places like sulawesi and the potential for a good life for skilled people is amazing depending on ones mind set and wants from life .....

@@ursdreyer3122 on sulawesi i would draw peoples attention to Kristen Hansen the Norwegian who has some amazing travel vlogs where he travelled indo on a motorbike and then Murray Wilkinson the Aussie expat showing Aussie the do and donts of bali and he has an interesting vid one of his latest on a development an Aussie did in bali and the returns on it ... with all this in mind the future of places like bali is mind blowing as to what the future holds and what direction it will take ....
