Have you ever road tripped in a sprinter van before?

I have never done any camping trip period definitely want to try I'm really not the camping hiking type love city, food and historical sight-seeing trips. I love a lot of vanlife channels and they seem to be having a blast driving place to place exploring in their RVs, vans etc.

I watched this video because I am currently on a Indie Campers van, 4 weeks out of 8, doing a loop around Europe. The van appliaces are in a very poor state, especially all curtains. Seems like no maintanance work was done at all, and it's so frustating. The secondary battery, the one that powers the fridge, does not hold the charge unless engine is on. We had to throw out so much food in morning that now I have to wake up in the middle of the night to keep the engine on for 15 minutes. I tried contact the customer support many times and no help was given. Now the engine oil light has come on, tried again to contact them and no help. I'm so regretting going with indi campers, considering also in the contract is clearly stated i was charged a Service Fee of 1.395,89€ for a service that was not done at all. My fear is the van breaks down in the middle of nowhere. INDIE CAMPERS NEVER AGAIN

They gave me a van with a check engine light on. The van brooke down on the side of the highway and they charged me 2000 dollar deposit. Customer service says its not there department and they cant transfer me

Sorry you had a bad experience. We had a very different experience. Based on our experience we still recommend the company.

Renters BEWARE!!! We booked a 2 week trip through Indie Campers but unfortunately had to cancel due to a family emergency. While promised our 50% refund, we have yet to see it. Every "agent" I have spoken with via chat or on the phone has been rude and not helpful. They have continued to dodge the issue and refuse to give me any answers. I even asked to speak with someone at the Salt Lake City pick up center and was told they are not allowed to give me that information. I'm beginning to think we have been scammed!!! If I could I would give ZERO stars.

Was the fridge able to keep things cold the entire trip? Going 7 days dry possibly one hook up

Yes our food was cold the entire time. There is a main switch that you keep on the keep electricity to the fridge. We dry camped off grid our entire trip except for one night and we had no problems.

We're going to rent an Indie camper van for the first time to visit Yosemite. I read where they require the van to be thoroughly cleaned inside and out upon returning it, as well as having the propane filled in addition to the gasoline. Was that your experience and how did you get it cleaned?

We were not required to clean the van inside or out. We did do a quick sweep prior to return but it wasn't thoroughly cleaned and we were not expected to. Ad for the propane and gasoline, it needs to be brought back with the same about as it left. Both our gasoline and propane were full so thats how we dropped it off. We barely used any propane and we cooked with propane every day, multiple times a day.

Yes we filled up the propane only once and we filled it when we returned the van. We cooked on the stove top every day and barely used any propane. When you pick up the van, they give you a thorough break down of how the van works, which includes filling the propane. But where ever you fill the propane, in our situation was at a tractor’s supply, someone filled it for us and they knew where and how to refill. It was not an issue.

Rogue. Charged EUR800 for a minor (2cm) dent. I provided 2 quotes that came in between EUR90-120. Indie's only response were that the contract stipulated that damages will be charged according to their Standard Price List. This list is not made available at point of contract nor later and kept as an "internal" document. I've asked for receipt of actual costs, but that was also not forthcoming. I guess the reason is that they do not fix it and they try and capitalise on the opaqueness of the contract and access to a credit card. Also, they released my deposit when i brought it back, but subsequently charged my card without authorisation - which they admitted. They still kept the money though. Dodgy start up, cutting corners - avoid if you do not want to be disappointed.

No, but they are able charge your credit card for what ever amount they choose with the uncapped liability you have when you take out one of these vans with indie SCAMPERS

Yes our fridge was on 24/7 and had no problems with the battery. There are solar panels and it helped we were in Utah. There was sun all day long.

Very disappointing experience with this clown show of an operation. Van was in very very poor repair with fittings and fixtures broke on not in operation. Basics like window blinds were broken or inoperable. The air-conditioning in the truck part of the van was in need of service as it blew hot air. The staff on the ground were friendly but they had no power to service customers. Upon submitting a concern I was given a refund of about 10% of my booking. Given the considerable issues with the camper this should have been closer to 50%. One of the staff suggested this camper should never have been rented to the public it was in such poor condition. The bedding pack provided was old and ratty and pillows were in very bad condition. I would keep away from Indie Campers at all costs until they fix their fleet and fix their poor customer service!

BAD CHARACTER AND UNDUE CHARGES They take a damage deposit and FRAME a damage so they don’t have to refund the amount. We drove the van for 2 weeks, rented 2 bikes and 2 surfboards with the camper. Upon return in Barcelona the staff gave us the thumbs up and assured everything was ok and we should get the refund in a couple of weeks. About 20 days later they charged the Credit Card claiming damages to the surfboard that we never actually used. DO NOT TRUST INDIE
