enhypen are the first group who bringing the "Chicago drill" to the kpop, it's a big move and dangerous even. Is fire 🔥

IKR- I never thought any group, much less a rookie group would dare bring the Chicago drill to their music. Major respect and props to them for this. And hybe and belift as well. Bringing this to kpop was an EXTREMELY dangerous move, especially for a growing group like Enhypen. I didn't think the music would work out well enough, but its incredibly well executed and it worked out amazingly. Enhypen really setting higher and higher expectations for me now lol.

Hi! Just curious… Why do you say Chicago drill is dangerous?
@jakeshimmy6922 жыл бұрын
@@jay-k6186 yes, apart to be dangerous bc none kpop group do it before, u knw the kpop is more pop than other genere, also enha is a young group even.... so also haha, this genere is represented more bl community..... so yes, that's why:)

One of the most aggressive beats in US music. They’re pushing genre boundaries here. Wow ENHYPEN! To be clear it’s inspired by drill only. They infuse it with their own unique style and did not appropriate.
@lilacz_072 жыл бұрын
@@jay-k6186 Hi there! Extremely sorry for replying late, I just opened youtube today haha. As a few others already answered, all kpop groups stick to one genre for their songs, which is kpop. Some hip hop instrumentals are also there, but almost the whole of kpop groups stick to one genre. Only the sound, beat and rhythm change. Now, Chicago drill is easily one of the most aggressive music beats in American music, and have some of the most passive aggressive sounds ever made. ENHYPEN not only released music in a totally different genre, they also released music in a genre which could have very well turned out to be a disaster. It's hard as it is, to incorporate chicago drill and give your own unique twist to it, but it was a dangerous move for them and HYBE to introduce this type of music in kpop. ENHYPEN, being a comparatively newer group, a rookie group no less, really made a bold choice with this song. Their song did disappoint many fans, but that's how Chicago drill is. It's something totally new in kpop, and as far as chicago drill music goes, ENHYPEN did an incredible job executing the song.

Jay's line that you said was your favorite is actually from their "into the I-Land" song in case you didn't notice

Jay is also the one to sing that same line in the applicant version of Into The I-Land which I found to be a lovely throwback

It’s a great nod to their past but rebellious reinterpretation of it too. Inspired lyrics here. It’s such a contrast that it made me pause and go “Wow, ENHYPEN!”

3:19 (it seems) the scene where Sunghoon will turn into a wolf at the time of the full moon, because in the Webtoon "Dark Moon" Sunghoon (character name "Solon") is a half-vampire, half-werewolf 4:41 again, Jake uses his firebending abilities 6:09 and again, Heeseung uses his telepathic abilities if you are aware, actually their MVs are very related to some of their webtoon abilities as vampires, and it is a very extraordinary concept

Thank you for your reaction video, this style of music isn't to everyone's liking but it's nice to hear your honest thoughts on it. You may find some of this album's other songs more to your taste, so you should really give it a listen if you get the chance. At 11:08 the reference is to them being "tagged, Given and Tamed" as in that is the tag or the terminology used to refer to them, meaning that they didn't "Take" this chance at fame it was "Given" (Given-Taken) and they didn't manage to "Dash" and escape being turned in to what others wanted them to be, they were in fact "Tamed" by the industry and peoples expectations of them (Tamed-Dashed), he then goes on to say "All passive voices" as in meaningless words and "Kill the past. Just get lost" meaning that they no longer care what others think and say about them. ""Walk the line" I hate that line" refers to them hating being told to "walk the line" provided to them by the industry and society and is part of the reason for the removal of the - as I understand it (The Logo trailer you can find on their channel says "End Hyphen" meaning the end of the hyphenated era, so we likely won't see any more of those titles) which drives home that lyrics meaning. This song makes more sense if you watch the "Walk the Line" Intro video (spoken in 3 languages so you need to see the video for subtitles to the Japanese & Korean parts) it also has an animated section that shows things you may have noticed from other MVs (such as the chained heart in Fever), it's worth a watch at least once in my opinion.
