Fun fact: the producers of this song were asked to make it as peculiar and eccentric (as well as noisy) as possible, even some inclusions in the instrumental were absolutely insane (I mean have you ever heard a song where the instrumental contains a high pitched horse voice?) . the song was basically dedicated to the people who called nct (particularly 127)'s music "noise" and labelled that as a bad thing. This is in order to show that NCT will only continue to embrace the noise quality of their music and, despite what those people continue to say, make it a unique quality about them that the enjoyers of music will find it rather interesting and attractive (nct we are so sexy lol). Simon says is one of my all time favorite nct and kpop songs ever. There's something about the way the 127 members performed it with such overflowing confidence and cockiness, they were rude and unapologetic in a way and it was exactly what this instrumental needed!!! I can talk about this song for days tbh and I really hope 127's Comeback can be as arrogant as this one!!

So, Simon Says is a children's game. The main person will say something like "Simon says touch your nose" or "Simon says tap your foot" and you follow the instructions. But if the person just says "touch your nose" you aren't supposed to do it, and if you do you're "out". I hope this clears it up! Simon Says was the first NCT song I ever heard so I have a special place in my heart for it. Even the "bless me achoo" line. 😄

1:27 These are Maori haka. These are often use in traditional ceremony or in competitions when they want to impress their opposent. In this case, I think that was at a weddings and it was performed by the husband and a couple of other guests. I also heard that it was present in one of EXO's songs too, but I don't know wich one.

Put simply: those calling NCT music as noise are nothing but jealous and feeling-threatened haters and SIMON SAYS was released “especially for them”. Thank you for sharing your personal story and for promoting these very underrated young men. Exactly like your best friend’s experience, I clicked immediately with the music as soon as hearing an NCT song one providential day, and I’m really glad to hear he is possibly on his way to becoming an NCTzen (especially since the new sub-unit, the new members, 127’s new album, WayV’s new album, and NCT 2021 are all coming very soon…). At the beginning no one was swearing. This came from another video from a group of Māori men doing what we call, the Haka. It's a Māori tradition that we do the Haka on special occasions, such as wedding or are Māori schools for a little friendly competition. The Haka has different meaning depending on what it was created for, for example, going to war, we perform the Haka as a some sort of farewell or sending our men off to battle, or like the rugby league, our team The All Blacks perform their Haka as a sort of challenge towards their opponents, it is sometimes seen as intimidating. The Haka originates from New Zealand which is located in the Southern hemisphere and is on the other side of the world, we are the first country that gets the first shed of light from the Sun and we are always ahead by other countries in terms of time, like in Australia, we are ahead of them by 4 - 5 hours.
