For best results and accuracy, you should always insert the probe fully, with no metal showing. Try it with a potato and have them perfectly cooked, every time. I love my Yummly so much, I bought them for Christmas gifts for my family.

I bought a Yummly from Lowes back in June for 89 minus my 10% military discount. I have used it about 15 times and found it to be very good. The ambient takes a while to come on and is not very accurate however, the internal probe on mine matched the dot probe perfectly every time, well I did stop verifying after about 5 cooks as it was always spot on. I do agree with you though that the range is no where close to 150 foot. Mine periodically drops signal when I am in my living room which is only about 50ft from the smoker. Overall I am very pleased with it. I chose it over the Meater because I read something about the maeater saying that I would need an old unused device to use as a relay for the signal to reach beyond just a few feet. I do think the probe is a bit thicker than the Meater and the point is not as sharp so it does take a bit of effort to get in some meats. Just my experience with the Yummly.

Looks like it was not inserted in the meat as it is supposed to be, The ambient temp only shows after you insert it in the meat as the instructions on their site say. Mine worked great after I followed the instructions. I use the IPhone app.

13 under is about right when you factor in carryover from resting. I always temp my meat 10 tov15 under to allow for the carryover

You put the thermopop in a different spot, you should have removed the yumly and put the other thermometer in the exact same spot if you want to do accurate reviews

Purchased a Yummly and while it worked great at my house on some steaks, it didn't do so well at my brothe inlaws house on brisket. It kept disconnecting and once I wrapped the brisket, it completely lost connectivity. Even if the holder was right next to it, just could not find it.

The probe has to be inserted all the way up to the black plastic for the best accuracy. Read the directions!

This is best for prime rib in the oven. I would not use this for the grill.

You really aren’t using the thermometer the way it’s described. In the chicken thigh, you had exposed metal on the thermometer. You’re not sure not supposed to have any exposed metals out of the meat. it’s not gonna be accurate, because the middle of the thermometer is picking up heat without being covered by the meat.

The only advantage I can see to using one of these wireless probes is if you're cooking on a rotisserie. The diameter of the probe seems very large.
@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Ted! I agree with using in a rotisserie, the diameter isn’t really that big when you consider what’s all inside of it

@@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ I made a boneless turkey breast in our air fryer. It turned out great. What can you not cook in an air fryer? Anyway, it was a bit of a pain to open the fryer and check the temp of the roast to make sure it was at that 165 sweet spot. It made me wonder whether one of these would work. I'm thinking so. Can you try it for your subs?
