I started my first mf sip nine years back. Mutual funds are best for those who do not have time and knowledge to go for individual stocks. There are risks no doubt with mutual funds but the downside with index funds is limited compared to individual stocks which need more research and monitoring. It is possible to make wealth with mutual funds also. I agree with your sentiments expressed in the video.

Thank you for sharing your insights Gajendra! There are 2 sides of a coin so if there are any pros for a thing, then there will be some cons too. But the underlying idea is that "one should remain invested in the stock market in the long run"

@Hariom Results vary actually depending on the market conditions. At that time I had taken a regular active fund (small sip in hdfc top 200 which later became top 100 and saw periods of non performance) . I was able to get rid of my car loan after few years. You are only 17 now and should focus on studies instead of tracking shares. You have time on your side. I suggest going for a nifty index fund (50%) , a nifty 100 fund (25%) and remaining a liquid fund with low expense ratio. However, do your research and choose funds as per your risk capacity.
