I've been watching Dan Merril on his channel since he "left", and one thing that's always impressed me is on his channel, and SJU, I could tell it was a friendly parting of the ways, respectfully done. And believe me, that's not always the case. It's so wonderful to see the respect confirmed. As always, to all, thank you so very much for the video.

14:00 talking about the unanswered questions -- the one that really annoyed me was Richard Alpert's ability to move around the island unseen and apparently instantaneously. At one point near the end of season 6 one of the main characters asked him point blank how he did that. His response was "no, not yet". Certainly insinuating that he WILL answer that, yet never does.
@MatiZ8153 жыл бұрын
There's no such thing in the show. What do you mean?
@Dave_L9133 жыл бұрын
@@MatiZ815 Exactly what I wrote. It happened. Alpert appeared out of no where to one of the main characters. I don't remember which. That character asked him how he did that, and he responded "no, not yet". Don't know how to explain that more explicitly, because I'm not going to try to find the episode.

This show was really unique for me. I loved it when it came out, but started tiring of commercials, cliff hangers, mid season finals, and such. Then the writers strike happened and I didn't come back. When I did come back to it, it was on Netflix when there streaming service was starting. So this ended up being one of the first streaming binge watches that I did. In binge form, it wasn't nearly as infuriating to watch, and while it tailed off, I enjoyed the ride.

There will never be a show that did their audience dirtier than Lost. there are many shows that give it everything they have and it just doesn't go well down the stretch, but Lost is the only show that continuously piled on a series of mystery elements that they never had any answers for, so if you enjoyed the show prior to not knowing what the future had in store, it was seriously under false pretense...they essentially scammed their audience. Not that I think they set out to scam their audience... not sure if it was due to stretching out the show longer than originally intended or what... but you could tell they kept altering pretty much the entire mystery elements of the show. The whole "others" element originally seemed really interesting, next thing you know they're actors pulling off their fake beards... then they're almost like a CIA faction or something performing experiments on these people and it just keeps switching and the whole Jacob thing was probably the worst of all the mystery storylines. The area where Lost really succeeds is on the human level. All the mystery stuff was nonsense. It's relatively simple... this group of people due to some type of fate are crashed on this island and each character has their own journey and personal struggles to overcome and upon doing so they move on. It's very Buddhaesk. Groundhog Day is also an example of a Buddhaesk movie. but he pretty much had to get everything perfect before his day advanced. Jack was a character who had the hardest time of just letting go and his journey took longer than most the other characters.

There’s an interview with Lindeloff from the last year or so where he said they wanted to wrap it up in 3 or 4 seasons, but ABC execs made them stretch it out due to the popularity of the show. That’s one of the reasons for how crazy it got. Ultimately the show is about the characters, not the island, and it succeeds in spades on that front.
