@@glennwelsh9784 Actually it's super easy, barely an inconvenience. Glenn Welsh already gave a perfect example of how the burger chain could have done a cross promotional deal. And, since the Sonic restaurants are a chain that specializes in drive up service to make things faster, they could have leaned into that aspect of their business model for the tie-in. I mean, if Burger King can figure out how to do a Stranger Things cross promotion when BK isn't even mentioned in that series, it wouldn't be robot science to figure out how to connect Sonic the Hedgehog with Sonic the Drive In. Hell, they could have even gone an extra step and made the rollerskates the servers use look like Sonic the Hedgehog's iconic red and white shoes and changed the uniforms to his blue color, maybe even put a fringe of blue spikes like Sonic's hair on their hats. There are lots of ways they could have pulled that off successfully.

It really was pretty fun. And honestly it’s one of the healthiest relationships I’ve seen in a film like this. Listens to her spouse and believes him, trusts him and helps him. While she is actively engaged in the 3rd act delivery? That’s pretty awesome. Normally it would have been grounds to throw him out until it was all over/they could go back to normal.

I was very much dreading the typical 'cartoon character somehow helps the main male lead with his relationship problems' plot, and was pleasantly surprised that not only is Donut Lord already married, but his relationship is also healthy and stable - which has the additional effect of making their eventual parent-son relationship with Sonic much more prominent. =D

That's why I don't like when in Sonic media, they mix the animal characters and even egg-shaped Dr. Robotnik with realistic human characters, like for example, the Sonic X anime series, the Sonic 2006 game, and the Sonic Adventure trilogy. Glad I set my expectations so low. I really enjoyed this movie putting the lower hanging cliches aside. I'm looking pumped for the sequel! I think having the characters on model was a big factor. This felt like a fan made a sonic movie. Let's hope the sequel has a more compelling story.
