kmac639 In the 60's, most American Cartoons were still done in America, including Disney's Traditional Animated Films. It wasn't until the 80's that Animation Outsourcing to Japan and Korea become common. MrZurata Also, in the 60's, Animation over all suffered dramatically; Theatrical Shorts were losing their budgets or were completely gone, TV Animation (which was just starting) had to be super cheap animation-wise and super simple story-wise (especially thanks to Moral Guardians), and the failure of 'Sleeping Beauty', combined with the rising costs of Animation, forced Disney to cut Corners in their films (such as the scratchy Xerox style used in 'The Jungle Book').

DingoWalley01 Ok, I didn't know that but that makes sense. That explains one of the reasons Hanna Barbara cartoons were so cheap looking back then.

They were actually smart to recycle old shot because it would take years to animate like 10 minutes of film. They were all hand-drawn by different people and layered on top of eachother to look like it's animated. So technically they aren't lazy, just being efficient.

Once Walt become involved, he had an intense argument with Bill, causing Bill to leave the company. So if the Jungle Book feels that there's something missing, that's because there is. This was the last film that Walt worked on before his passing.

There are many words I would use to describe 1967's "Jungle Book", but 'boring' is not one of them. Say what you will of the animated classic, it is without a doubt one of the most mirthful adaptations of the Kipling classic to date. Even after all these years the movie is still sure to bring a smile to my face. :)

It always drives me crazy to see Mowgli hypnotized by Kaa. In the book, Kaa is a good guy, and anyway Mowgli was unaffected by his hypnotic effect over other animals (to include Bagheera and Baloo) because he was human, see the section where Mowgli hangs out with the monkey people, the Bandar-log. Kipling very much emphasized man's superiority and dominion over animals.

Is good that they didn't include the book's ending in the movie, that would have been traumatizing for kids, an entire town been massacred by a bunch of animals is not PG But I agree, Kaa's character isn't supposed to be a threat to Mowgli
