The Mandalorian worked because it was a focused/zoomed in on cowboy/samurai tale (like Wolf and Cub). By being so much more of a down to earth, character driven series, it could tighten its writing and not have to wow us with galaxy-spanning war spectacles.

Spoiler warnings for Mando: Agreed. I yelled at the screen a little when it kept happening. Grogu eating one egg was "fine", but after that Mando should've seriously prevented it going forward with a childproof lock or something. Then Grogu could still stare at the eggs and see the babies at the end. They could've created tension and imperiled the eggs a different way. The entire mission was properly endangered by the ice spiders. I really enjoy Mando, but there a number of stupid decisions that seem to belong in teen slasher films. :)
