Wow 🥺🥺 I really, really didn't want to upload this video. It felt vulnerable and icky. Ben gently persuaded me to. Because I was rambling a bit, essentially I felt that everything - life, work and travel - got a bit much and in a van there's nowhere to escape it. A friend said 'sometimes you just want to get off the ride' and that's THE best way to describe it. To say I've been overwhelmed by the love and support in the last 48 hours is an understatement. I thought maybe a few people would get it but I didn't expect almost every single comment to be full of compassion, understanding, depth and kindness. After 4 years I still try and reply to every comment and by now, many of you feel like genuine, online friends. This just cemented that feeling and as gushy as it sounds I really feel wrapped in love, there's no other way to say it. Reading these comments has been a bit of a reality check to get out my own head and not worry so much. Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to write a comment, I will get back to all of you even if it takes me a while 🥲Now let's get back to business shall we?! xx

Honestly I would get burnt out so much more easily and quicker than you so don't be worrying about getting burnt out, overwhelmed and home sick. I think there aren't that many people that could really do what you do for such a long stretch. It all looks great from the outside and from the comfort of their homes, I'm sure some people really believe that they would just be loving every second, but the reality is that it takes a lot to do that on a long term basis. Also Ben is right, at least for me, I watch for you guys, I want to see your experiences and feelings on things, I don't care if not much happens in a video, I just love you both. I just travelled to Scotland for a week, then back home for one day and then to Amsterdam for three days with work colleagues that I've never met before and while I had tonnes of fun, I'm super burnt out from just that, so I feel for you and I hope you have loads more awesome experiences in the future! Also I really feel you on missing out on the food Chesca, that would be my main priority 😂

When I was backpacking I'd sometimes get overwhelmed, and simply check into a hotel for a few days. This meant I was able to unwind, have a bath, wash my hair and generally reset the internal mechnanism. This might not be as easy in terms of van security, but something to consider anyway.

We always say that mexico to the US is what turkey is to Europe. The migration history, the friendly culture, and especially the food. Turkish food has influenced Europe the same way Mexican food has for the US. Germany's doner kebab is our mission-style burrito from California!

I have said it before and I'll say it again because I truly mean it.... it is SO refreshing to see authenticity. What you're doing is fun and amazing but also HARD and exhausting. My happy place is the trails in BC and even watching last weeks episode made me feel overwhelmed, let alone being there. I will continue to watch your journey and as a subscriber, I don't want you to feel any pressure to make it "fun". I much prefer your honest take on how it's going. PS go to picnic snacks are peppered salami, cheese and bun or egg salad pitas with pickles. Much love being sent your way.

Super enjoyed your journeys this vlog, decidedly more frustrating for you than for the viewers, though we feel for you! The views of the lake with the boats and the horse were beautiful. Good to see where all the expats hangout too. It is completely evident that you two give it your all. We were only saying last week, "they never show the parts of vanlife that test your patience!". So, don't stress about adding the shitty times too! all of us who've done any length of time away living in a van know how frustrating it can be at times.. big van, small roads, where can we park, disturbed night's sleep, water, solar, gas etc.. BUT you continue to bring us honest and entertaining videos each week which we really enjoy watching (we've stayed watching you from the start so you must be doing something right!?). So give yourselves a break and don't feel bad if you are homesick sometimes! take care and love to you both.

Before you said how you were feeling I was thinking how brave you both were. Travelling through different countries not knowing what to expect from one minute to another as well as different customs and language. It must be overwhelming at times. And no matter how much you and Ben love each other being with someone in a small van with no other rooms to chill out in and no one else to talk to must be difficult and frustrating. Your video was just as good as any and we do watch for you and how your day goes ,good and bad. So keep on keeping on and take more time to yourself. We'll still be here watching and admiring your strength. X

Oh guys. My heart goes out to you. It’s tough sometimes, we’ve only been going 6 months but already recognise some of the more challenging aspects of this life, that you mention. Anyway, this video was far from boring. I don’t think you could make a boring video even if you wanted to. What you’re doing is far too amazing and truly inspirational for that to be the case. I understand the homesick bit, and the constant stress of where the next water, fuel, food will be found. What you need is three or more days in a hotel. The space, the food cooked for you and no washing up, a glass of wine with every meal is as good as a rest. Experiencing different cultures is exhausting, mentally as well as physically; all the new sound, sights, smell, architecture, costume styles, etiquette. Having travelled in many countries for twenty years, it was nice to travel in Europe for a rest. Love your all content.

We know probably more than most the emotions you guys are feeling. We were trapped in Baja when the pandemic hit, so when we went to the main land and started interacting with bigger town and cities or was just crazy. And then a month later, our one month old engine replacement failed and we were stuck by ourselves as all our friends set off. It was super tough. You will always find ways to get through those times, because there are so many wonderful experiences and people to meet on this kind of trip. We were so excited about chilling out after we arrived in Chile, but now we have a major clutch/gearbox problem. We had really hoped that we'd be able to enjoy Christmas this year, last December our Mexican resuce cat Lizzy disappeared and we never found her. But now we're both worried we're going to be stuck in a garage at a Christmas, waiting for parts 😭 This trip really teaches you how resilient you can be, so hang in there, more good times are coming ❤️

Thanks for sharing the highs and lows. You are showing the true realities of living in a van. The genuine feels you get from selecting a place in a map and spending the journey wondering if it will be OK is real. You are then on edge when you get there when you scope it out, checking it is safe, and if you can stay there. We're loving that you're showing what we really experience travelling in a van. Don't worry that it is boring at all, we watch it for the day to day stuff and the touristy bits. In fact, our favourite bit was the gas fill-up in this video. ❤

Hey you 4,.... the whole situation of feeling out of place and detached from everything and just not knowing what and where, is an essential part of van-life. I always felt, it is a vital part of it, and when you come out of it on the other side, you learned so much about yourself and grown with it. I found myself several times in that situation, when all the park ups where shit and i simply felt lost. BUT, waking up the next day is always a sense of achievement to being able to managed it. The main reason i like your videos is, that it is honest and also has exactly those moments of park up search and desperation in it. Keep doing what you do!!!!

Always keep it real, the good the bad and the ugly. Life isn't a day after day of good times, there's going to be the ups and downs and somedays you will feel it more than others. It's good you shared this with us, kind of like therapy, right? Do take time off once in awhile, don't worry about the channel, we'll always be here. Thanks for sharing with us today, great video and good subject matter. Take care now.🤗💌

Don’t worry at all about sharing the low bits, that’s life and everyone experience is it…. I really love what you share from the high to the low and all the bits in the middle…. I’ve done a bit of van life, not on the scale that you two are doing it, but I to have had my low points during journeying too… taking a break and chilling out really does make a difference and I’m glad you did that…. Keep going even if it’s just meals, wheels and bed…. Blessings to you both and lots of love from North East Wales🙏❤️

No worries! We are all along for the "real" ride and adventure. We want to see what these places you travel to are really like. If we wanted the studio produced all happy, beautiful and sunny vacation videos we would look up the department of tourism! We want to see the highs and lows! Your travel videos are hands-down the best, most entertaining and educational I have ever watched! I am actually excited with anticipation to see your next video when Sunday rolls around! So either you guys are doing it right or I lead a very dull life!😂 Especially enjoying Mexico as we have been along that coast a few times and absolutely loved it. I have learned that van life isn't the non-stop vacation people think it is. If you need to take a break, by all means do so. We will be here patiently waiting. Thank you so much for sharing your adventure with us!

Oh, Sweet Chesca, no need to feel bad about your content, or ever leaving parts out! It’s all beautiful. We all watch to see the good, the bad, and the frustration. After all, you’re human and we enjoy every bit even when you’re driving and shopping. I like those videos just as much as any because they’re real. You two are troopers for doing what you do. I can’t imagine, as I’d lose my mind, so feeling overwhelmed at times is perfectly normal. I found it frustrating at times driving for weeks, staying in hotels, eating in nice restaurants, etc. My husband (now ex and not from the drives lol) would get under each other’s skin just from being together 24/7. It’s natural to get frustrated and have meltdowns. I love your videos and realize all the hard work that goes into making them. I can’t imagine doing that while cramped in a van, working full-time, looking after two dogs, and everything else. Sometimes I think I’m going to watch and you’ll just say you’re going to stay somewhere for a month just to take some time off. Maybe that’s what you need. I can imagine how frustrating and overwhelming it can get, not to mention how exhausting it is. The two of you do amazingly well. Please take time to look after yourself first because burnout is no fun. Hugs from Nova Scotia, Canada 🇨🇦 We’re getting a bit of snow this evening. 🥰 🤗

Hi, Mrs Rob here, life is a roller coaster what ever you live in, say it a castle, house, caravan, igloo, tent. We all have those days, weeks, and being a Virgo, like me, we have them more, as we are caring souls. Enjoy December guys. Safe travels. ❤

Scout staring out the window while you pet “other” dogs was priceless!! Thank you for sharing “real” van life. Life is not Instagram no matter how much we wish it was. You have every right to be down. You have every right to be homesick. Hell people who live in sticks and bricks break down from their everyday routines and pressures. Do not apologize for it. I watch you for you four, good days and bad. You guys do amazing videos, even when just driving around. It is a rare video where I am not smiling or laughing and enjoying you being you. Take time whenever you need it, be that skipping a few weeks or flying home for a visit. We will wait for you. Walk and travel in peace, my friends. ❤️

We so get this, we've finally gotten to Cali after a month of near continual movement and visiting with friends and we just feel exhausted. We're storing the truck here to fly home to NZ next week to earn some more money to allow us to continue our adventure and it may be a year before we get back. We've seen and experienced so many wonderful things over the past six months but I often feel like it's not what I expected travel to be; it's often so hard to reconcile expectations with reality....We love your videos and we have so much respect for how much work it is to create content ! Your future vlogs will keep us sane while we're back in "normal life" longing to be on the road again !

Thank you for sharing your true feelings. We are in the middle of our van build and be haven't even staryrd van life and we've had issue after issue with the van itself and the build. I feel myself getting frustrates that everyone seems to get it so easy and we're here struggling our way through, working from pay check to pay check trying to finish. I really appreciate you being honest and real and showing that you are only human and no matter your style of life, troubles have to be faced and mental challenges overcome. Lots of love to you both ❤

You know what, one of the hardest times in my life was our second van build. They are incredibly tough. They demand so much of you physically and mentally, and you’re usually doing them to a schedule in your spare time. They’re expensive with costs that appear out of nowhere and it’s so easy to run yourself empty that you have no energy to deal with things when they go wrong (which they always do). It really strained our relationship too because we had no time or energy for anything else. They are not for the faint of heart and I want you to know that just by doing a van build you’re doing amazing! Take it day by day and I promise it will be worth it, even though it probably feels like it will never end, it does. Keep going and take breaks when you need to, you’ve got this 💪❤️

We are loving all your adventures and no matter if your itinerary works out or not for a day here or there it is just fascinating to see the real life of Mexico (or other places in other videos) in places so different to the well known cities and resorts. Yes Ben is absolutely right that we watch for the two of you and of course your adorable doggies. I do understand when travelling and not having a place booked and trying to find something it is very stressful even when we have been in more developed areas on our travels. That picnic is one of our favourites and DH was salivating over the bun since we haven't found that type for a few years in the stores here after they were available for years. I usually take something simple like a chicken salad sandwich, tuna sandwich or with crackers instead and some pickles. Also have done a veggie bowl and some fruit with cheese and crackers. Our adventures are much shorter than yours so we are content with something light and quick to prepare. We stay out of fast food places that way. 🙂 Hope you get to spend time somewhere where you will be able to zoom with family and friends over the Christmas holidays. Remember don't just make it about one day because that causes so much stress as well. Took me a long time to come to that realisation. Take some time out for yourselves because it just boggles my mind what it takes to complete a week's video. It is a lot of work but we do really appreciate it. Sending 💞 always from BC

the busy action pact videos are good but the calm just going through the motions of life videos are so relaxing, we love watching you for you and how entertaining and fun you are even if your just in the same camp spot and doing some vanlife admin. take as much time as you need over Christmas and get some well ernt rest. if you stay in one spot for the next 2 months or if you go to outer space it will still be just as engaging, bacuase you 2 are so amazing and inspiring to watch❤
