Some other notable brands that are either up and coming or have just flown under the radar: -DCT affordable (less than 10$ shipped) diecasts with plastic bases, but they have accurate wheels, rubber tires, great lensed details for the price point, roll great and have suspension. Sometimes you need to take them appart to really optimize the rolling and suspension as they are manufactured in accordance to the price point, but if you can get past that they are awesome. -GCD just awesome, well built and full of features. -JKM incredible value, good QA, all roll and most have suspension, its a step above miniGT for almost half the price. Their older mitsubishi line is soso, but they’ve been getting better and better and are now one of my fave brands. -Microturbo One of my fave brands right now, limited variety of diecasts, but every single one is just a work of art imho. -Almost Real are another great brand that kinda flies under the radar, awesome details/accuracy but a bit pricey. -Kyosho probably one of the most popular diecast manufacturers around the world, except here in NA. They have a HUGE library of diecasts they have released and continue to do so. Sadly they have not broken into the north american market so anytime you find one stateside its scalpered up in price. Great diecasts, imagine minigt quality but with plastic bases. Affordable in asia but stupid expensive here. -Motorhelix known for their 1/18 scale stuff, they’ve jumped into 1/64. Limited variety of diecasts but incredibly well executed. A step above FH or TM imho, and rolling is questionable sadly. -LCD Every casting I have of theirs is great, imagine a TW hobby64 quality but they roll and have lately done opening features on their castings, some even have suspension like their range rovers. -HKTiny Good affordable diecasts, lower pricepoint. I would put them between DCT and MiniGT in terms of value\features\finish. -BM Creations Love love love their suv's\trucks, but hate their sedans\hatchbacks, their gimmick is that they come with hop up parts and for the sedans you can swap out the wheels\stance, problem is they never roll properly and the steering looks weird due to their pivot points being off. Their trucks on the other hand do not suffer from this, have great suspension as a whole and are very enjoyable with their opening doors for dioramas. Plastic bases but well done. -Era Car If you can find them for around 10$, they are good value for the money, plastic bases but often have opening hoods\doors, rolling is a bit iffy and may need a little tweaking to get them to roll great, often all that you need to do is loosen the base screws a smidge and retighten to human levels :P. I’m sure I’m forgetting some other brands, but those are the ones i can remember off the top of my head :)

Did you intentionally leave Tomica Limited Vintage out because you don't collect it, or you just forgot completely? In my opinion, they're one of the best in replicating real cars in 1/64 scale. Maybe the cars they choose aren't considered cool by many, but I do enjoy seeing normal everyday cars being represented
@HonestDiecast4 ай бұрын
@@huy7573 that's exactly it. I neither have experience but I also forgot. I definitely would have placed those on a lower level if I remembered via pictures. I knew I forgot a good one even though I personally don't have any. 😢
@Jules-oc3pv4 ай бұрын
Tomica is kind of falling into irrelevancy. With the rise of resin 1:64’s which provide much better detail and realism for a slightly higher price, Tomica is really showing it’s shotcomings. Shortcomings that naturally occur with diecast (aka less sharp more blobby/rounded bodies), and defects that are Tomica specific like large panel gaps with opening parts, terrible paint quality and the absurd fact you need to glue on the mirrors yourself. The fact Tomica seem hesitant to fix these problems and lower their prices show that they are the dinosaur among all 1:64 brands and will fade into history with time.
@machucast4 ай бұрын
@@Jules-oc3pv Not anytime soon lol. Tomica Limited Vintage diecasts are just well built, well executed and their QA is second to none. They all roll like a greased pig down a lubed water slide... plus the functional suspension is just the cherry on the top. For people who like to handle their cars (not PLAY with them, but setup dio's or just move them around or what have you..) TLVN's do not fall apart like resins. Resins are like going to a strip club, look but dont touch.... while metal castings are for those who like to touch lol. Plus resins over the years tend to deform due to several factors if not stored properly. Having said that they are not perfect, but I've been hearing TLVN haters say they are going bankrupt soon yet they still sell out.

Hey, this is the first video I have seen by Honest Diecast, but then again, I am somewhat a noob to the diecast collecting having taken a break for approximately forty some years. However, I was likely to subscribe to this channel because this is the first video I've seen that covered diecasts in such a unique style. I'm familiar with the iceberg style of videos that cover various subject matter where most of it lies hidden below the surface of the common. Yet, I have never before witnessed even a pathetic attempt at applying such a documentary style to such a subject as diecast collecting, but I dig it! I was already fairly certain that I would ultimately end up subscribing to Honest Diecast at the conclusion of this video, that is if nothing out of the ordinary should happen between now and then that would completely change my perspective on the narrator, or the channel in general . . . but then upon hearing the narrator is in Arizona, I immediately paused the video to check out the channel's homepage, and to subscribe. I'm in The Old Pueblo, and I will take a guess, based upon odds, that the narrator is likely from the Phoenix area . . . but enough of my babble, I want to get back to the video and see what I can learn.

A lot of matchboxes come damaged so their quality control isn’t very good scratched scuffed paints, bent axles from the factory axles way too long. In my opinion hot wheels does the best when it comes to wheels and axles hands down they just roll like butter out of the blister matchbox are kind of sloppy, but I love them both. I have both in my collection.❤

Lovely review, thanks for sharing. No doubt, PGM is top tier in diecast. I'm not a resin fan or collector. Just one disagreements. Focal Horizon quality is questionable. I have seen 2 youtube reviews where one had the right rear caliper facing the wrong direction; the other review had a very noticeable fault with the strut for the rear wing. Their paint jobs are absolutely wonderful, but quality isn't consistent. TimeMicro is da bomb!! Have one of their Skyline R34 Z-tune in Chameleon color and everything about it is fantastic!! A few brands were missing like GCD and Minichamps, but hey the video is already 49 mins long😅.

Thanks so much Rom, happy you found it useful and yeah I can't believe I missed so many brands. It was bound to happen though! 😄 As for FH I'm sorry to hear about the experiences on those or at least the reviews. I haven't been subject to those kind of defects or errors but I'm thankful I haven't. 😁🤞

I understand and respect the concept behind this breakdown, but it left much to be desired. Hot wheels without a doubt has to be tip of the iceberg, yet there should be some mention to Maisto(Adventure Force, Bburago) and Majorette(Norev). Especially if they have been their direct competition and given HWs a reason to be on their toes. Maisto although of lesser quality is more accurate than mattel brands. Yes they are typically on larger scale, but HW and Matchbox have no room to talk on that aspect. So I brushed that off and continued watching, but No Tomica(TLV)?! How? Tomica was at the cusp before Mini GT. And as I do agree Mini GT and Company have earned the respect, Tomica also paved the way at one point and continue to impress to this day. The last disappoinment which was the final straw and realized I Couldn’t restrain from commenting was leaving out kyosho. Kyosho were the pioneers, and to not even have an honorable mention is pollution to the diecast community. I feel very confident stating that all these new brands(LCD, Stance Hunter, PGM, Etc.) resin or diecast definitely were inspired by kyosho(Dydo). I was lured by the algorythm and title of this channel. “Honest Diecast”, very bold. As a long time collector i have to admit this may been a marketing strategy. But i can tell by this video that you are a new collector(less than Five but more than one? ) at the end it is your very biased, personal take but naming a channel of the caliber only welcomes the challenge to agree to disagree. TO EACH THEIR OWN. Here are more diecast brands, some long gone but still accessible on ebay: Minichamps, AutoArt, RMZ, Welly, LCD, JKM, Grani and Partners(711), CMS, Era car, Cars lounge just to name a few.

I'm disappointed to hear this vid didn't meet your expectations Victor. Perhaps I should have clarified that my main goal was to stay within my personal experience and to brands that I actually have in my collection. I mean how can I give an honest and fair assessment to models that I don't have or have no experience with? The only exception to that in this video is Aoshima which I do have experience with but do not have any in my personal collection. As far as how long I've been collecting that would be 7 years. While you are correct that HotWheels may or may not be 1:64 exact, I intentionally left brands such as Majorette and Jada Pink Slips off because they are undoubtedly larger than 1:64 (many have stated 1:58). Tomica is a great brand and so is Kyosho. Matter of fact all the brands you've listed are great, especially Minichamps which I do have and strive to get as far as some older Porsche castings. But one thing I also see in your comment is that you are listing many brands that are undoubtedly popular in Europe and overseas markets and not quite as much in the US (Burago, Norev, even Majorette while available are not quite as popular for collectors in the US as overseas markets. Perhaps my manufacturers are too mainstream and for that, I happily refer you to my good friends Daan (Diecast Dude) and David over at Twyce Diecast who will cover those brands much more in depth than I possibly could As stated in the video and here in comments, I am human and have forgotten some models and may be unavoidably biased to some manufacturers do to my collecting preference and standards/desires for what I want in a model in my collection. However a marketing assumption is a bit overboard as I am not affiliated or partnered with any manufacturer. Or if you were referring to my channel name I accept that questioning and reply that my name is based off of honest collecting in the name of the hobby and love of the cars (rather than being a reseller for example where money is the main drive) but also to give my honest opinion (see PopRace segment in this video or any Diecast Discussion livestream). I tried to be as unbiased as possible even though favoritism was somewhat inevitable and I also tried to cover as many manufacturers on the spectrum as possible. While you were kind enough to give me a lot of feedback (mostly negative), allow me to return the notion. You shouldn't turn it personal by accusing my channel or my name to be of marketing purpose just because you didn't see the brands you wanted to see on this video. As long as Im breathing, I have a chance to collect those models and give reviews in the future which I will certainly consider thanks to your post here. Don't take it personal that I didnt mention those brands as once again first hand experience, collecting preference, and simply forgetting them is all a factor. As a matter of fact, you may want to check the post I pinned here in the comments and you will see most of the manufacturers you mentioned are probably located there. I appreciate the feedback! 😉👍

@@HonestDiecast Thanks for the time to even reply! Since you took the time to reply, I also took the time to watch some your vids, def. got a solid community, congrats. The thing about my feedback, I was criticizing what was left out vs what you included. I do see the potential of the video, nothing wrong with what you included. The initial impression felt more dictating vs how you are now explaining. Probably would not have the response if I had just heard you introduce it as more of a personal approach as to “this is the diecast iceberg”. Also keep in mind I had Honest Diecast in back of my head, which I was like so is everybody else dishonest? lol As a collector I am still boggled how those three I named were left out, but at the end it is just superficial. To clarify never took it personal, I am actually not a big fan of tomica, but I respect their prescence. But if collectors see majorette of larger scale, than I hate to disappoint mattel collectors. If you have the two HW versions of the ‘20 and 21" toyota gr supra you can easily see they are of two different scales. Stock version is almost 1/4 in. larger than the one with the wing. How? Such small detail but it sucks I can't get passed the idea it is not true 1/64. I have hundreds of kyoshos for the same reason that they have delivered to my expectation. They were truely ahead of their time. Only been one car in question Jaguar xjr-15. What can I do they are the only ones so far to produce it. About the name of channel, did not take long seeing some of your videos it was against scalpers? I get it. just seemed and honestly(lol) still seems bold. At the end not everyone is honest. the name almost challenges the viewer to find something to pick at. That is where i was going with that, that. Good marketing (engaging) strategy. Anyways, congrats again on your channel. Looks like Porsche is the specialty here. Hope no one is grading these essays. sheesh

I’d like to know where you think hobbyists, dare I say, artists who customize their cars fit in because that’s what drew me and my Fiance and many of my internet friends in. The combined influence of Gaslands, Gaslands UK’s car of the month competitions, Jakarta diecast project, arise Lightspear, the various third party wheels, printed engines body kits interiors and diorama accessories. Also car themed artists online especially kyzhyl saleem aka the kyza, Al Yasid, Bradbuilds, and especially Damon Moran and Fernando Corea. My mom and my brother used to collect beanie babies based on what they found most endearing not what was considered the most valuable FWIW. I have a small number of miniGT’s. I like Tomica’s mainline and premiums. I don’t really have a need for TLV. I have exactly one MiniGT Kaido house car so far. Collecting just to accumulate doesn’t make sense to me and my circle.

These prices are for the USA, in Europe its different, if i order a Hot Wheels Elite64, i have to pay 35€ including shipping (so HW Elite64 is very expensive), a Inno64 is about 25€ without shipping, but if i order them here, shipping is only 5€ if you make an order for 100€ shipping is free. Also Sparky, not cheap here, HW Premium is 10.99€, same price for Matchbox Collector, a MiniGT i get for 11.99€, so why should i buy a HW Premium if i can get a MiniGT for 1€ more? A Greenlight is around 9€ - 12€, a Autoworld 12€, Pop Race is around 16-19€. Greetings from Germany.

For me it was easier and cheaper to dive in deep below the iceberg. Scalpers have ravaged my scene and every store has their Hot Wheels and Matchbox just emptied out daily. Why pay $20 from a scalper on eBay when I can snag an absolute insanely high quality MiniGT or Inno64 for base price of $15 and support an awesome diecast company?
