Linz is the birthplace of Adolph Hitler -- this was his home town. My ex grew up in Linz 50 years ago. Her grandfather was a farmer who had been in WW2. His farm went down to the water, and after the war he sold it and a hotel was built there. WW2 history wasn't taught much in school in the 1970s, and adults did not discuss the war. One of her teachers did teach it, but that was rare and frowned upon. She asked her grandfather if he was afraid of anything. He said he was afraid of death, because he knew he was going to hell.

It is amazing! The city looks so clean and beautiful. No wonder they dont want tourists to come and spoil it. I wounde how a society could develop their city/county to such a great level while other countries lag behing so much? Is it the culture/race/language/? What is it?
@SalznPfeffer6582 жыл бұрын
A society at a high functioning level takes time and most especially the monopolisation of trade dominance & political power over others - begun by old empires over centuries - and the war industry to maintain control. At present, the levels are maintained through nurturing traditional culture and the neoliberal globalist protocol that continues to privilege the same European power structures of old. It took centuries to build and it'll take centuries for less developed countries to overtake. ;-)

All German-speaking countries are highly developed. It's a mixture of industriousness and a willingness to pay taxes for good services (education, transport, healthcare, housing, etc).

I visited Linz 3 years ago, it's nice but not a great deal to do there. Did you see Walter the blind singer with his keyboard?

Dear #honestguide (Janek&Honza), you helped me so many times with your Praha recommendations, so I will (hopefully like so many others) tell you a few locations from my subjective point of view, that you should definitely see next time you are here (and I know for sure: YOU ARE COMING BACK)!!! 1!!!1!

Important notice for future tourists and visitors to Linz: The Höhenrausch is shut down and will be dismantled the next time.

I’ve been to Linz recently, unfortunately on Sunday, when most of the shops and restaurants are closed. I still managed to find an opened restaurant and the trip turned out to be really nice, but I definitely recommend going to Linz some other day (plus Höhenrausch is permanently closed).

Leberkas Pepi is an institution in Austria, I hardly recommend anyone visiting Linz to check it out, but be careful, the portions are big and you'll most likely end up full after a single sample.

I felt in love with Austria when I visited this marvelous country. Must see for sure. Thank you for another great video. Can I suggest you make a video about Krakow? And maybe even Lviv (the best city in Ukraine).
@jacobriverson38073 жыл бұрын
Would love to know more about cities in the Ukraine only visited Kiev and loved it.
@praguematist3 жыл бұрын
@@jacobriverson3807 excuse me, but it's Ukraine. Not «the Ukraine». And Kyiv is the capital and the biggest city although it's not the best in Ukraine. I'd recommend visiting Lviv and the nearby Carpathian mountains. Beautiful architecture and great cuisine in Lviv. It's known as the cultural capital of Ukraine. Outstanding nature in the Carpathians is hugely recommended. Also Odesa which is a city by the sea. In Odesa you can enjoy local beaches, drink local wine, eat local seafood, fish, oysters, great cuisine in general.

@@praguematist Lviv had a long history of being a Polish city, ruled by Poland and then by Austria, so it has multiple influences in culture and architecture.

Don't get it....Locals say they don't want tourists. Honest Guide makes a video which will attract tourists :D
@Bean_80003 жыл бұрын
I think the idea is that they don't want people who just turn up and go for all the obvious tourist attractions and instead go and discover new things and hidden gems like local cafes etc. 9:58
@Mazzeltoph3 жыл бұрын
Sure, but i think this channel generally attracts more of the "explore for yourself and enjoy more" crowd than the average "i've spent a bunch of money to get here now where are my tourist attractions and benefits" that a lot of touristy destinations have. I kinda get it 🤷🏻♂️
@IamThat003 жыл бұрын
@@Bean_8000 But both of them are tourists... So maybe this channel should have said that they don't want a specific kind of tourists.
