I would use the G-turn in every mall parking lot that I passed my space in….. so yeah it has some real world applications

A few corrections: 1) No compartment for the charging cable. There simply is no space. 2) The hood is also slightly modified compared to the ICE version 3) You can also spec the ICE grill in front. 4) G63 has side exhausts

Also the four electric motors are not located in the wheels. There are two motors together with two gearboxes per axle combined in one package.

The current G wagon still has the older widescreen cockpit which was introduced in the 2017 E-Class in believe. These widescreen interiors are the best designed interior that you could get, i am so happy that mercedes hasn't switched it up for the G wagon but i want that design back in other cars as well.

somehow looks more like the old g wagon from the 1970s with the smaller lights and different facia, gives it a very retro look.

They clearly learnt from their failings with the EQ line. Fantastic execution of an EV launch. Also, G-turn is an actually useful gimmick that rich folk will definitely be showing off lol

you can order it with a traditional front grill. A-Class and my CLA also still have the buttons in the interior ...

The tank turn feature in the Rivians never made its way to production models. Also, you could option the regular grill from the G550 with the horizontal slats if you don't like the standard grill the G580 comes with. What's also unique about the G580 is that you can option it to come without a rear spare tire or compartment for the charging cables. If you option the regular grill from the G550 and the rear spare tire, then it's really hard to tell that you're looking at an electric G Wagon, considering the fact that the G63 is the only ICE model to come with side exhausts.

Yes, the N465 has physical buttons for the climate control. The button in the middle between G-Steering and G-Turn is the Low Range button. The interior design is really nice and I agree, the standard steering wheel really doesn't look all that good. But the touchscreen on the MBUX is just such a welcome addition. A range of 500 miles requires a TON of battery capacity though, especially at higher speeds. You need to take into account that the great boxy shape of the G class comes with aerodynamic drawbacks. Offroad the consumption isn't actually that high, because the speeds are just that much lower plus you get regen on downhill parts.

They should've just called it the G-Wagon Electric. Although there's the precedent of long names with the 'AMG GT Four Door'.

Some cars are just not meant to go EVs. If you’re stuck in the middle of a safari tour what do you do? Of couse I understand this is for soccer mums who control dads finances 😅

"How far can I go before I have to turn around in order to charge?" You have the same question with gas vehicles too! Yes, you can bring gallon gas cans with you, but you can also bring a generator that allows you to charge. I've even seen someone charge their Tesla with an Ego Nexus Power Station. It gave it 12 miles, basically what a gallon of gas would give the ice version.

I think the issue is that this has a range of 250 miles while a comparable ice variant has a range of 470 miles.

I heard that the only difference the EV G Wagon has is the hood being a little rounder so it deflects air better.

The hood is elevated a bit near the windscreen and it has vents in the rear fenders to improve the aerodynamics. Other than that, it's just a G class, which is a good thing!

This car is a contradiction within itself. Being so heavy , and its origin and all , being the antithesis to environmentalism basically. But what do i know , here in Europe pro football players will buy it en masse. ( until Bentley releases an Bentayga EV ) As well as drive-kids-to-school-moms who want a more massive car than Cayenne or Macan. Few people will ever use it offroad. Oh well.

not sure what the spare wheel would be for? You can't jack up a 3 ton EV can you? I can't even jack up my own small EV (BMW i3)

This guy gained an audience making mid-tier photoshop Restomods. Now he just about maintains it by spending 10 minutes waving his arms around reading articles. This channel has been a real letdown for me, it could’ve been a really unique car design channel, as no one else was really doing the photoshop redesign thing, but now every video is just made with a cookie cutter.

13:23 that’s going to age horribly. The EU implemented new regulations stating that cars must have physical controls for the most prominent features on the car because big screens pose a safety hazard to the drivers of the car. Your statement will not be true for much longer

that really depends on what the "most prominent features" are. Headlights, yeah. Hazard switch, obviously. Climate controls, maybe? radio controls, heated seats? what about seat position controls or controls for the air vent direction? all of these things could become a distraction if a driver were to try and mess with them on a screen.
