Had dinner with Paul Harrell just a couple weeks before he passed. He was in Lincoln City, OR, and I had reached out on one of his videos and offered up my family’s condo. He invited my wife and I to have dinner with him. Ended up sharing a meal with him and Roy, and it was a surreal experience, one I will never forget. True legend. After he passed, some of his gun collection was put up for auction, and I was able to purchase his Ruger Bearcat. It now sits proudly on display in my gun room. A revolver I will never sell, to remind me of an experience I will never forget. RIP Paul . . .

PSA firearms, as an owner that would instead buy guns for a reasonable price then to spend money on good glass and munitions; I wouldn't do anything different. I can handle a malfunction for every 500 rounds fired that doesn't bother me. Lesson of the story though, take care of your guns. Don't have to dress them up for bed after every range day but every once in a while remember that a clean gun is a happy gun. One of the greatest combos you can have is a S&W sport AR or a PSA AR of your choice with my preferred Leupold glass. ANY DAY ALL DAY! As a battle rifle and a hunting rifle, its been quite accurate with several 7.62 and 308 loads, lightweight, reliable, and well gassed for use with a SFMB and/or a reduced backpressure can. If you carry an AR for extended periods of time that weight reduction is REALLY nice, especially knowing you're not losing durability or reliability to get that. I've since built a suppressor dedicated SIONICS barrel 11.5 using mostly Vseven parts as well that weighs 6 pounds 12 ounces with a B&T inconel Rotex 556k, Aimpoint T2/Unity riser, and a Surefire Vampire, and a sling on it, empty mag. The problem with bullpups is nobody buys them because they cost so much but if no one buys them and makes them popular the price will never go down. And bullpups have some good advantages over standard layout rifles.
@neutronalchemist324118 күн бұрын
It's the problem with any non-AR15 platform. They are not inferior, some of them is superior, or at least potentially superior, but there are SO MANY builders of AR15 parts, in competition among them, that a good AR15 build is ALWAYS going to be cheaper and "offers more possibilities to customization".
@jackaubrey861418 күн бұрын
From a TACTICAL standpoint, bullpups will always be at a disadvantage to "standard" style rifles simply because in order to fire round a right-hand corner (say of a building) you have to expose your whole body to possible return fire - because of the ejection port (unless you LIKE hot brass in your eye...?). Yes, I know a couple have been designed that eject forward (through a tube), but would you really want to rely on that tube never being jammed with crud/brass if your life depends on it? I went from an SLR (FN FAL) to a SA80 and know which one I'd rather carry if my life might depended on it....
@neutronalchemist324118 күн бұрын
@@jackaubrey8614 The VHS / Springfiled Helion simply ejects laterally, but ahead of the shooter's head. It can be shot from the left or right shoulder without changing ejection port. One thing regarding expensive AR's. Here in Sweden, each gun you buy has to be approved by the police and has its own license and they can deny you for honestly whatever reason (such as saying you already have a rifle in that caliber), and the guns are already way more expensive due to imports etc you might as well go for something extra nice. For example, a RUGER AR-15 556 MPR .223 REM 18" is just over 1700 USD here. Aero Precision M4E1 is over 2100 USD.

I think the 18" version of the ruger is similarly priced to the zion. Zion had upgraded trigger for 18", ruger has their upgraded ( non mil-spec) trigger in both. Not sure if there are any other differences. That said there does appear to be a 500-900$ Sweden tax on your examples.

Ive exclusively trained on this, usually about 1000 rounds a month, so i have the manual of operation down as a reflex. Best purchase ever. Iwi made a good bullpup. Id reccomend to anyone whos even remotely interested in a bullpup.

I don't really understand bullpup hate. Outside of cost and ergonomics. And besides the ergonomics kinda work if you train with them. They are extremely well balanced. And can be very compact. They solve some of the size problems of the ar15. And some people complain about the lack of modularity. But the new aug a3 m2 is amazing. With the kits I have I can swap FOUR different calibers relativity easily. And between 2 within seconds.

They're fine. I think it's just people trying to find rationalizations stay "in the box". The same people usually say the same things about PCC's or any other oddities. Although, I do have to agree with price points being the downside. The rest is just training. Honestly, I think a lot of the military forces switching over has more to do with politics than anything. After all, politics has *never* affected military logistics and procurement right? 😂

I think that entire segment could be condensed down to; if you are wanting to get the most out of your money, then sub 2k AR-15s are the best choice hands down. This of course being aimed mainly at the average gun owner. Speaking for myself, I can't afford anything anywhere close to bullpup prices and for what I do, a sub 1k AR works great. I think that's what he was getting at. However, while I'm not a bullpup fan, I like seeing guys who can run them efficiently. I say if you like your bullpup, go out there and be the best dang bullpup operator you can be.

Disagree with bullpups. For most civilian situations where you’re shooting 1 or two mags tops, almost all of the bullpup disadvantages don’t apply.

YES to number one. Love that it’s 1 on the list. I am an FFL and gun shop owner, I sell a lot of AR15s. I don’t recommend any of my customers to spend like over 1k on an ar. You can buy a PSA, ruger ar556, Springfield saint, etc for way under 1k and it will perform fantastic. Don’t waste your money.

This is just me but I'm of the opinion that if you're paying 1k or up than you should part it out and assemble the gun from the best parts you can afford. Is it hard to do? Maybe if you don't have the inclination for it or the tools but a FFL can do the work if the owner isn't down for it. Either way you get exactly what you're looking for in exchange for the cash. Otherwise any reputable AR off the shelf is doing work for less.
@Maddog306020 күн бұрын
My first AR was a Ruger 556, I definitely recommend it. But get the one with the railed upper; I got the one with the old style handguard but it doesn't have a heat shield so it warmed up real fast. Ended up replacing it with a Magpul.

A month ago I would have agreed on the cheap 2011 statement...........until I tried the Mac-9 DS. Yes- it is brought in by TISAS.......they are like 950-1000$ and mine has 1000rds on it with only 1 failure to eject. The gun is slightly oversprung from the factory IMO and the trigger is a little heavy but not awful. A 12 pd nighthawk recoil spring and a wilson mainspring plus for good measure a lighter nighthawk hammer spring and its GREAT for the money. Mine runs 100% with my 20 rd Atlas mags too. Basically with a 30$ spring pack and a couple extra mags it's a great gun. Optics ready, the sighta aren't great but so what. They are fiber optic and close to suppressor height. It's worth the money to me, it's been very reliable to my absolute surprise and I'm not the only one. Other than the Mac-9 however I would not go any cheaper at all. Like I said, it's not like me at all but I'm so glad I tried this gun.

You are correct on most of the 7 but..I bought a Tisas Nightstalker 1911ds and it is flawless, trigger is unreal. the best 600.00 I have spent on any pistol. I REALLY agree on the lever guns costing way more than any gun should cost. my Marlins are 40 years old and still are nail drivers, and they were inexpensive even back then. btw I apologize about the Girsan yes you are right that one is junk. I have a Tisas Nightstalker 1911ds version and it's flawless, like a well oiled machine. no problems eats all ammo.
@SOSdoorgunner693 күн бұрын
I forgot!!! oppologize for the view on the Girsan. I agree with that. Mine is the Tisas and although they look like they were made in same factory, they are completely different. the Tisas Nightstalker 1911ds is very very well made and tight smooth, like a slick machine. you were talking about that clamp the Girsan and that is a POS. I tested one at the range that a guy had. but Tisas makes some good stuff for Turkey. the Turkanelli M5 I biult up is flawless. and it was total under 1000.00 for all the parts. the Benelli M5 is way over priced. so nuff said. good job on the vid. check out the Tisas and see what I mean.
@customcutter10021 күн бұрын
Funny I asked when you were going to review a MAC 9 or Tisas Double Stack yesterday. Today you upload and say all "cheap" 2011's are no good, because of the Girsan that you reviewed. I guess Girsan got reviewed because they sent you a free gun.

His point was for the money you could get a sub $1k AR, accessories, extra mags, and training for less money than one of them. He wasn’t saying they were terrible like the M&P 22 mag that jammed all the time or the Tommy Built being just looks and not function. He likes them and even recommend a few of them, he just thought they weren’t necessarily worth it. But price is all subjective to the individual anyway. If you make 3k a week a 3k rifle isn’t anything. But if you make 3k a month, it’s something to save up for. The Tavor is pretty cool tho. It’s probably my favorite bullpup. I still prefer the AR platform because I have more time behind it.

Big bullpup fan. You’re right on price though the X95 can be had ~1600-1800. Ergonomics are actually better, people just don’t like change and aren’t willing to put in the maybe one dedicated range session it takes to get used to them. Where they really shine is in reducing OAL without neutering your ballistics. HK416s are cool, but a 5.56 in 10.3 is pushing something like 2500-2600fps meaning your reliable fragmentation is way decreased while your flash, bang, and gun wear are all significantly increased. Food for thought! Edit: also the militaries moving away from them are primarily standardizing on the AR patterns which are cheaper to make and have more of our guys offering training on them. It doesn’t mean Bullpups aren’t great, it just means America runs on AR and all the little guys look up to big bro.

My Beretta argument is I have small hands and the is just perfect for me. It shoots well and is very accurate. I don't mind carrying it, in a shoulder holster, which I prefer. As to the price,agree it is high but I picked mine up when Cabela's had it on sale this fall for in the low $500's. So I have to say that I love the gun but I am no the big handed guy. I've learned never to buy a weapon without holding it in my hand first so I can make sure that I can reach and operate the controls. But for you, I understand why it's a gun for you!
