P.S.! Have seen videos saying how terrible this camera is because of the 4.9 megapixel issue. Those guys are missing the point. This is really an "instant photography" camera. The digital stuff is just there to make it easier and more cost effective to use. One just can't compare this to your smartphone camera at all. ( does your smartphone print your photo??). My take on this camera is that it is to Fuji instax, what the SX-70 was to Polaroid. Thank you again!

Please do a very in depth guide and review of this camera! This looks like the perfect camera and retro feel. The only thing I wish it had was 1. A Lens Cap to protect the lens and 2. It uses USB-C charging.

6:18 - the hot shoe mount I've been using for an extra light or a viewfinder - which is totally needed for this camera. Yes, you can frame using the screen, but a dedicate viewfinder will be much better. I recommend you to get one! 14:00 - I agree, an included lens cover could have been appreciated. But luckily they are available on the internet, amazon, ebay, etc from as low as $10. I just ordered 2 of them, in case I'll lose one... :) Overall, cool review. Thanks!

This is the review I was waiting for,. I bought the Mini 90 and SQ 20 after your reviews. You do it so great, I have no regrets, since then. What I got from these cameras was what you were reviewing, You know how to do this PERFECTLY. When I first saw this Mini EVO, I thought it could work somewhat like SQ 20, but with the Mini format. Well, after watching this, I see I was completely wrong. There is a lot of improvement here, from the lenses effects, display size, app connection... And the looks of this camera, oh boy...

Well...Growing up in The '70s, I used Polaroids all through high school, and even up until Fuji stopped production of their peel apart color and B&W film maybe 7 or so years ago. Yes, the real charm has always, for me at least, is being able to share the photos ( and other love for instant photography) with everyone. Never gets old. I've held off on the Instax even though I love the concept of instant photography, even though I feel the instax film (all types) is the best of all instant films. I just didn't like the " bubble" cameras. Had a Mini 40 for a day and returned it without even taking a shot. Too big, and I didn't like the tendency for it to over-expose, especially on brighter outdoor shots. This one looks perfect! Have ordered one (got deal with gift card at Target..$175!) Will be delivered Monday. I think you're reviews are very well done. Lots of reviewers out there but I like your stye. Thank you for taking the time and effort to produce them. Recently me and a couple friends were at a bar on vacation, this girl walks in with what I'm pretty sure is this camera. Me being ignorant, I straight up asked her if it was Polaroid. She said yes and one of my friends asked for a picture of us. She took one and it looked so cool! It looked like we were in the 90s! The next morning we realized it was Fuji Instax film and started looking this up. I want this camera for that reason. Just to casually carry it out and capture moments and print them.

In regards the cold shoe attachment, its very useful if you want to put a Cold shoe levelling bubble on the camera, or you can attach a small continous light to the camera,

@ for what it does it’s great but it’s for sure not a $200 camera. I wouldn’t buy one new. The camera is 3mp I believe, and works better as a printer for which there are less expensive options. My kids loved using it as a digital cam, haven’t used it in a year.

I just got one as a gift but my little one wanted the colorful one, so I got her the Mini SE bundle. I kept the Evo for myself because it’s fun and more useful for my use. Love being able to print whatever and whenever I want. I realized this came out in 2021, so I just hope they don’t release a newer one soon lol I also ordered screen and lens protector and silicone camera case

I really liked the Square dimension film lineup. To me it always felt like better dimension. The Wide film products were simply too bulky to carry around and the mini film wasn't satisfying enough. Too bad Fuji seems to have lost interest in the Square lineup. This hybrid type product was what I imagined few years ago when I first bought the Instax Square printer. I would have payed a lot more if this was available in Square Film.

This camera, sounds good, looks good. Performance not as fantastic. Issues I’ve had with it is 1. The films don’t print as well as the original Polaroid - there’s a weird print streak left on the print, prints are not as detailed - even with the settings toggled for a better print 2. Certain images saved on the camera “corrupts” easily - which means u lose the saved shots 3. The “filters” eh, you can live without it 4. The LCD screen on the camera itself is dated, its really tricky to review your shots in bright light. Until a) you trf the image (if its still there) or b) print Overall, its a pricey little toy that doesn’t do enough. And if youre thinking of solely using the camera to print external images, again - the print is shit.

Thank you so much for such detailed and comprehensive review! I just got my mini EVO and I had 2 issues so far. The films that were printed from this camera all have lines at the bottom and it seemed like all the films had warmer (reddish) tint once printed out compare to what's shown on the screen or on the phone. I printed a picture of my black and white border collie and it came out to be pinkish red... I also read online that the mini EVO can only be charged 300 times, and after that you might not be able to use it anymore 🥲

Maybe charging it at 20% and plug it out at 60% will help the battery life from decreasing over time, I don't know if that will actually help.

I have the instax mini 90 and loved the features of choosing the portrait, landscape or macro modes as well as the feature to control the flash…. Does the mini evo also have the features to control flash as well as portrait and landscape modes?

The live view function is great, but it's silly how small it is on the app. If they could make it fullscreen - or even like 50% larger at least, that would be excellent. I don't care if it would get a bit blurry. Would still be better than that tiny 'thumbnail' of a live view...

Now that my wife requested an instax for her birthday next month, so now I’m planning to buy one. I’ve been wanting the Instax Mini 90, but since this Mini Evo launched, I feel puzzled LOL. Can you do a direct comparison between the analog Mini 90 and the hybrid Mini Evo, taking the same picture with both cameras. Since Mini Evo actually takes digital photos, I really want to know if there is a difference in print quality. I mean, does the Mini Evo print looks digital compared to the pure analog Mini 90.
