@@STUFFWEDO so I did this today except I dismantled to checkout the construction. R10.00 for a Dylon powder on special at Clicks. 3minutes, came out burgundy. Not too bad. Decided to take a black Sharpie to the spacer. Seems these FRN scales absorb Ink and dye well. Worked a treat.

That is a super idea with the Sharpie. Will check out the Clicks stuff as I normally use the stuff from Metro.

Awesome, did you do a second dunk, or was +-3mins all it took?
@STUFFWEDO4 жыл бұрын
It was done in real time so 3min I guess. I am dying the tong tomorrow so keep an eye out for that video.

One more question...sorry...did you have any negative side effects from not disassembling the knife...any internal rust or anything like that...did it mess with the action?
@STUFFWEDO3 жыл бұрын
Nothing at all but I would not do it with a high carbon steel blade like any 10 series or even d2. 8cr or any stainless works a treat.

What's the powder dye you used?
@STUFFWEDO3 жыл бұрын
It is a cheap bangladesh powder nylon/synthetic dye. But I am sure any synthetic or nylon fabric dye will work. Thanks for watching.

Cool thanks. Rit is easy to find here so I'll go with that
@STUFFWEDO3 жыл бұрын
Rit is the easiest but I was going for the cheapest I could find and It still worked. Just make sure you use the synthetic dye.

@@STUFFWEDO *update* dyed my d2 honey badger racing red...got lazy and dipped the knife in the brew without taking it apart. Scales look beautiful but there's a visible line on the blade where I stopped the dip. Tried everything, but just have to live with a stained blade now

I dyed a d2 rat yesterday and it did noting to the blade. Sorry about your knife. What dye did you use? And how long was it in there?
