I usually don’t even have to smoke swarm trap conversions. They are usually so chilled. Thanks!

Keith, that was a nice swarm. They should do well in their new home. QUestion - I always put one or two drawn frames in the middle of the top box to entice them up. Let me know if they jump up there and go to town. With the feed up there that may work.

So far...so good. I have used drawn frames with food and brood in the past. This is an experiment to see how just feed works....along with a bit of fondant and pollen patty. They were bringing in pollen yesterday so it looks promising!!!!

I hope to catch a few good swarms this year. Nice video shot of the bees on the landing board. BTW we had that same pitcher back in the 1980s. LOL

Good luck with your swarm catching!!! Fishing for bees!!! Yep....there were a LOT of those orange pitchers around back then!!! 😆Thanks for stopping by!!

Hello Keith how long you leave them in your trap. That is a nice swarm.
@keithspillman7 ай бұрын
I like to see pollen going in if they are in the box. If the swarm just lands on the outside, I drop them in a box ASAP.

You may want to leave that trap down for a few days. In my experience, enough bees will fly back to the original location and defend it against another swarm moving in. You may even think you caught another small swarm.

Too late....I think that already happened. Oops. Will probably close up the trap a few days...with food...and then shake them in another hive. Maybe they will stay there.
