Welcome to my world as a dairy farmer and bee keeper. We've been fighting this for years i.e. almond milk, soy milk, oat milk, and all the other concoctions out there that don't have any dairy in their ingredients and still called milk, when in fact they're just a juice. I do notice honey in stores also will have the same color, even with six or eight different brands, suspicious, because every honey draw I do from bees in the same yard is a different color. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for addressing this issue! it looks like it covers the whole food industry and it seems to be a politically covered complot. Looks like civilised global trade, food security institutes and fair competition organs are not the core pillars the honey market rests upon anymore.

I have actually found crystalized honey in the grocery store. (Helps that i work there.) And they mark it down and put it on the markdown shelf. But to be fair it was a local brand of honey. I've had to tell fellow clerks that the honey was perfectly fine and safe. Because they never had honey crystallize on them before. Lol, i had to explain the whole thing to them about the subject. Just to keep them from THROWING IT AWAY! BECAUSE THEY THINK IT WENT BAD! It makes me wonder, if ignorance is bliss then why aren't more people deliriously happy?
@beefitbeekeeping
@beefitbeekeeping 8 ай бұрын
Omg 🤣🤣🤣 this made me giggle!!! I’m glad you were able to explain to them that the crystallized honey is actually the good stuff! Most consumers don’t know that. I usually put a sticker on every jar I sell saying that it will most likely crystallize and what to do if it does. Hmmmm ignorance can be bliss but I feel as tho most people at least today live in a state of searching for happiness rather than just allowing theirselves to be happy in the moment. But more knowledge more problems I suppose I would say ☺️♥️ thanks for watching friend!!

Sadly it's the same here in Ireland, in the first 3months of last year 1711 tons was imported from china and 86 tons from spain, alot is used by bakery's but the big supermarkets sell it for very little and as organic, most people don't even realize that its not even honey

I agree wholeheartedly about the fake honey. It's why I got into bee keeping( only 2 hives so far). I can say though, after being an over the road truck driver for over 20 years, they do have trailers that keep stuff frozen to -20 or very warm as well. I hauled them almost the entire time I was out there. China has a saying that goes, if you can cheat, then cheat. Keep up the great work.

I can back you up about grocery store honey tasting different than honey collected straight from the hive. One year I oversold the honey I extracted from my colonies, we ran out of our personal stores before the spring flow started. Our young daughters asked everyday when I was going to get some honey. Well I stopped by the grocery store one evening and bought some honey. I put the jar on one of the countertops in the kitchen. When my daughter's returned home from school they said, " Oh we have honey." They each grabbed a teaspoon and filled it with honey from the jar. Their eyes were wide and I'm sure their taste buds were all standing at attention. It only took but a second for the wide-eyed excitement to turn into a frown that settled in on their foreheads. They asked me what is wrong with this honey. They didn't eat anymore of the store-bought honey. So yes there is a taste difference between grocery store honey and pure raw honey taken from a hive. I am glad I stumbled across your KZbin site. Your presentations are well thought out and they don't come with the customary um's and ah's after every fourth word. You must be a public speaker or have taken a course in public speaking. I'm looking forward to your next VLOG.

As far as crystallization it depends on many factors. I have honey that takes years before crystallization, and some that takes much less time. Depending on the nectar sources used at the time of honey creation the properties can be very different. Also Flavor of honey varies a LOT from flow to flow, from area to area. One of my beekeeper friends (55 hives) separates his honey by the flow into 9 different types. We sat and compared honey side by side that was taken from each flow last year and the flavors are all different. He sells his honey at a premium price over $40/lbs and his customers don't mind paying that, because he can tell them exactly when and where the honey was created. If you are a hobby beekeeper, you should understand that you should NOT compete with Walmart or Costco on price. Compete with them on quality, favor and location. Some people are happy with Walmart honey, others will pay more to have local honey. If I am one of several beekeepers selling my honey at a farmer's market, I will be the guy with the highest price and will happily send you to the others if you just want cheap honey.

Thank you so much . People shouldn’t buy anything made in China. Buy American!!! My little sister bought a bamboo chopping board and it was made in China. All of a sudden she had all these gnats all over her kitchen when she opened up the product think about all the processing at being on those ships all the handling. People were getting sick from installing wood floors in their house from product made in China. There are many many many resources out there for people to say that buying local or buying from your country is a lot less expensive and a little bit more honest thank you for your videos.

What of the diabetics who are buying real honey but actually getting sugar syrup.. its a crime and should be handled as such. Wise consumers know to buy direct from their local beekeeper, period. retail outlets are dropping the ball on their responsibility to supply what the label sais it is.. and what they are selling on the shelves is not honey.

This is called Funny Honey, subsequently, a lot of the funny honey comes from china as they import it to other countries and it makes its way thru the trade system to the United States. Addtionally, china has been able to copy replicate the enzymes in a bees honey stomach and produce what they call synthetic honey......As a result, there are a lot of politics involved in the importation of honey as well as other agricultural products, then end result of that it hurts the local business and American producers, unfortunately, this does not only fall into the bees or honey industry

Sounds like a good plan. I have no doubt you will be like that lady has me surrounded in the thumb with 30.000 units she runs. You only need 200 units making honey to make 90.000 just selling it wholesale. All mine pre sold for 3.00 lb and they do the extraction. I just drop off the suppers . All my comb honey sold as well. Will do hundred suppers of comb honey.. normally just do ten but after last year sold in 5 minutes for 20.00 a frame thinking need to up it . Local honey strong demand here in Michigan. Nation wide . Bob Benie always says how much he likes buying Michigan honey. Just gotta get it done.. keep the over head low. Need you box deal I bought 1200 deeps for 50 cents each.. with frames. That's how everyone gets started driving hundreds of miles buying up used equipment.

I just brought a bottle of honey home from Dominican to Canada toronto area, and that honey turned to be fake. I put some of that honey on a white bowl and put warm water in it, gave it few swirls and the water removed the color from the honey, and the honey was left almost transparent. Also I did not see those honeycomb shape during swirling but rather cracks like shapes. It also tastes funny, doesn't taste like honey at all.😢

just a point on the honey in shops, the reason why it doesn't candy fast from the shops is its heat treated to make it last longer before it goes candy on the shelve. but please don't rubbish all shop brought honey as there's a lot of hard working commercial beekeepers across the world who have worked long hrs and many days away from their families to provide this honey to the shops/or packers. second point on supermarket or shop brought honey is most places want a uniform colour and flavour profile so the packers have to then mix 2 or 3 types of honey together to achieve this, its still pure honey and yes it will taste different to that brought from a beekeepers as often its a single type sold by the beekeepers .

Yes we do have methods to test the honey. The fda regulates imports of honey. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is releasing data from a sampling assignment carried out in 2021 and 2022 to test imported honey for economically motivated adulteration (EMA). EMA occurs, for example, when someone intentionally leaves out, takes out, or substitutes a valuable ingredient or part of a food or when a substance is added to a food to make it appear better or of greater value. The sampling was designed to identify products that contained less expensive undeclared added sweeteners, such as syrups from cane and corn. The agency collected and tested 144 samples of imported honey from bulk and retail shipments from 32 countries. The FDA found 14 samples (10%) to be violative. The agency refused entry of violative shipments into the U.S. and placed the associated company and product on an import alert.

Are you aware of China producing a synthetic sugar syrup specifically designed to defeat the methods we use to test the imported honey. A simple google search will show you plenty of information on the adulterated honey being pushed around the world. Companies in India, and I'm sure others, purchase this synthetic sugar syrup from China to mix in their honey. Please next time include the type of test done on the imported honey.

I have 30 boxes of Apis Mellifera. But, favor honey produced by the native Apis Indica bees of which I have 22 hives. Four are housed in Japanese Pile Hives and they are the strongest. I also bait swarm traps and have successfully lured these bees in my boxes over the last one month. I consume my own home grown honey that always crystallize at the bottom after some time lapse. I extract raw honey without any heating etc. I recommend purchasing raw honey from beekeepers on the very day it is being extracted.
