These videos are simply outstanding. I learned a lot how to make simple simulation and wise design decisions like doing half walls with window openings for natural ventilation. This must be taught in architecture schools at early years so architects gets familiarized with energy methods. It's not intimidating but it gets very interesting once people understands what is going on.

@@PhilippGalvanDesign This material is needed. Few videos are this illustrative. Parametric design uses actual data. Environmental design is literally this. Designing with weather data and simulation is one of the premises of parametric architecture and engineering. These are very useful and easy to follow videos.

Thank you so much for these detailed tutorial, I have an issue in terms of connecting an aperture and door at the same time, it accept to connect only one of these last ones, would you have an idea what could be the problem? Thanks in advance
@PhilippGalvanDesign11 ай бұрын
Hi, not sure what the problem could be. Check if you use the correct outputs for doors and aperture.. Also the edges of aperture or door can't be at the same location as the edge of the room . Check if everything is planar with the room faces. Is there any error message?
@abdessamadelabidialaoui382211 ай бұрын
Hi, no error message thats actually what drove me crazy)) however, as I doubled checked your reviews I still face the same problem, somehow I think recognition of surfaces as Apertures /Doors is the issue, as the geometry doesnt seem the same as you have shown in your tutorials even though there is no error shown as I have mentioned. Many thanks beforehand for your time.

@@vaishnavisprakash6046 This issue appear probably because we are using Macs. However, the solution that I found later is to press shift while trying to add one more element to the code, just try hold pressing shift while adding more than one element to the main task you are working on and I think it will solve your issue;)

Hello, how do I get louver shades with a different angle of rotation for each blade into Honeybee?
@PhilippGalvanDesign Жыл бұрын
For each blade? I think in that case you need to manually script them. Honey won't be able to rotate each blade individually out of the box.

Hi, i am writing my undergrad thesis right now on understanding how different brick stackings can effect the internal thermal comfort of a room, i am unsure if honeybee can be used to evaluate this. I wanted to change the orientation of some bricks in the facade (essentially to make them out to be shading elements for the facade) and to see if that has an effect on change in the thermal comfort on the inside. will i be able to do this with honeybee or do i need to look at some other plugin? It'll be a great help if you could give me some direction, thanks
@PhilippGalvanDesign9 ай бұрын
It's a very specialized task. You might be able to use some hybrid workflow where you use individual honey or ladybug components and manual research and testing. Honeybee is very material driven. You can specify material but I don't think to the extent you are looking for. Basically you want to find the property of your different brick facade configuration. Where as in honeybee you should already know these properties. On the other hand, you can specify shading elements separately to your brick wall. Keep in mind that honeybee doesn't recognize detailed models. It's calculations are based on simple shapes (boxes) with assignments material properties....

Thank you for your videos Philipp! As I'm learning Grasshopper (especially LB/HB) you helped me a lot. I was wondering if you could make a tutorial about more advanced/realistic problems? Like right now I'm struggling with a HB sun analysis for a multistory building. I think it would be sad to remove your camera. It makes your tutorials more personal if we can actually see you :)

Hi Franko, Thanks for the suggestion. I'm trying to get to a more realistic example but i'm also learning myself so everything will just take it's time. Stay tuned for the next videos. I'll try to increase the complexity over time.

Hi Phillip, loved the tut, however when I am trying to employ the Code on my Computer it does not work at the very initial stage where you are able to use the viewbytypenode to separately view all the walls and roof. Though I need to mention here that the rhino model which i have used as my brep has a set of manipulations like boolean difference, for my own understanding i tired the script with a simple box, but that didnt work either. Request you kind help.
@vronmerjoe55622 жыл бұрын
Update 1: I found this node Planarize Brep which has greatly reduced the no of faces, however the roof and walls are still in the walls output
@PhilippGalvanDesign2 жыл бұрын
The roof is determined by a minimum angle in the room component. You might want to check that out. Or you can manually force faces to be roof. Don't know how complicated your model is but anything out of the norm is always a bit of trouble. Energy plus is built mainly for conventional shapes... I would try to simplify your massing as much as possible. Also think of what you want to achieve with a honeybee study. A lot can be done with ladybug which is easier with complicated geometry. Anyway if you can't move forward you can also send me your GH definition and 3d model. See channel info for my email... I'm quite busy these days so it might take a while to get an answer.
