I have heard some hurdy-gurdy music in the past including recordings. You have the nicest timbre I've ever heard from this instrument.

A short but heartfelt tribute Nigel "You are a master of your art sir. A unique voice as a composer, and a virtuoso of an instrument which, in your hands, talks to its awed listeners" Long may you continue.

Agreed hahahhh yes the tunes are coming to me quite easily at the moment . Others are the virtuosos tho , i just try to keep a steady beat for dancers but thanks for all that , great to know , cheers

What a beautiful song and as always, what a great sound you get from your green-topped hurdy-gurdy (made by your father if I'm not mistaken) I have to say my favorite of your hurdy-gurdies... thank you for these gifts...

It's beautiful. My little choir sing the Halsway Carol at Christmas, a favourite. Any plans to make a vocal version of this?

Wonderful. Nigel, can you tell me what your basic studio set up is here please?
@nigeleaton128 күн бұрын
@@wulfshead sure it's GarageBand , a focusrite scarlet2 the gurdy has pickups and valve preamps and with a clip on mic too. All the instruments come with logic which no longer works and spitfire labs cello
@wulfshead28 күн бұрын
@nigeleaton1 that's fantastic, thanks for letting me know. Amazing that it's simply through garageband! Does the preamp run before you run in to the interface? Incidentally, which preamp is it? Please excuse all the questions! Just an interested musician and gear geek! I have recently discovered your work and am enjoying it immensely! You are an incredible musician and carrier of our old traditional music and instruments. Thank you.

Hey where can I get that particular hurdy gurdy? Or gurdys like it I’ve always wanted to try this instrument but never know where I could buy one other than that fantastic video!
@nigeleaton19 ай бұрын
Thanks . The best place to start is maybe the nerdy gurdy kit or a robert mandel symphonie or a Catnip B . If you're serious and can afford it then get a Marco gamarra or a kerboeuf . Prices range from free for the kit (nearly) to several thousand and then on up
