It’s good seeing an idol who never wanted kids decide to have kids and come to grips with themselves and their ideas as a result. It’s a constant push to be better for our children; but it gives me confidence as a young father. I’ve been watching your material for most of my life; take care David Cross! Thank you for all the times you helped me not give a fuck just to get through the rough stuff

I had a similar story David.. father that leaves his family with debt and left a single mom with 3 kids alone. But here is the thing. You are where you are today due to that adversity.. Same with me.. I have been through a lot without my father but my mother took on that role.. loved hearing your story man... feels good to see how far youve come!

You don't think I could think of one dad I know that does not or has not at 1 point sounded just like you and you're very candid stories stories about everyday life being a dad. They commend David Cross for at least recognizing and not only that but seeking out the help or assistance he needs to be better. Love this Podcast I can't say enough.

I have a shit parent memory too that haunts me. My kid is about to be 13 and this happened when she was 5... We were decorating the tree and I was trying to micro manage what she was doing and after she went to bed, I took apart the whole thing and redid it. I was able to use the Elf of the shelf as my cover. "He" left a note saying he knocked over the tree and had to redo it. I couldn't stop myself but I feel like a piece of shit whenever I think about it. I just told her a few months ago what i did. She didn't remember at all. Parenting man, we just try our best not to screw them up. I bet you're a great parent.

Funny how Ryan mentions being embarrassed of the ticket. I was the opposite. When I was 5, we made a move to another state, and $ was tight for a while, and I was aware of it even at that age, but my parents refused to accept any help. I saw some kids at school with the free lunch tickets (theirs were green, and ours were like a reddish thing), and I asked my mom, like, why can't I just get those? She let me do it for a little while and then stopped it again, but I was like, "Dude, we can get breakfast and lunch for free. Let's do it!" I was jazzed by the idea, lol.
