Any camper (even brand new) will have problems. Obviously the longer it sits out in the elements and the less care is taken care of it, the more problems it will have. You two shouldn't be embarrassed that it wasn't in perfect condition upon buying it. It is very humble to say, "This is what we could afford, and this is how we're dealing with it." I find it so much more comforting to be around people who are humble than people who (usually pretend) to have it all together. It does open you up to more criticism, which can be scary, but it's so much more relatable. I love your little home, and I hope it lasts many more years for you.

I wish people would stop with the hating and be helpful instead.... I have the same year/model and these are all great tips. Any time you buy something older and used it's a roll of the dice, way to keep fixing things and make it your home.

You guys obviously did your research- you got the right truck and the right camper - you weren’t expecting perfect and seems to have good bones. You learned a bunch while renovating it - you did awesome. Its workin for ya in this moment as planned. Thanks for sharing - absolutely nothing to be embarrassed about.

I think you still got a great camper for a great price! Even new ones leak! In fact I've never bought a camper that didn't have its issues! Keep on enjoying her and loving her! My current rig is an '83 mallard. She may be a turd but she is all mine and I love her!

Excellent excellent excellent video! Folks should not hesitate purchasing some thing, older, just know you’re going to fix and repair. I have learned so much watching KZbin videos! There is nothing that hasn’t been filmed times a dozen. I am currently repairing my own camper after an accident. A bit easier since it’s a Teardrop and I built it. But I am redoing so much after having used it and decided I want to do things differently. Don’t hesitate because you’ve never done it before… Everybody starts somewhere. You have made a wonderful home and you have not gone into debt to do so. So many people can’t say that, they are tied to 40 years of payments, one type or another. Kudos to you both… Proud to be a patron.

Check for grey colored water pipes with the pinched connectors. These are notorious for leaking and can cause a lot of hidden water damage. Look in cabinets under sinks for water damage. Love you ladies and Winston, too. Happy trails!

Never heard the saying shining a turd. lol Mostly the lipstick on a pig reference. lol You did a great job. Future me is soaking all this in for when my time to travel comes. With any new (used) purchase there is bound to be problems. We bought our condo almost 8 years ago and even with inspections we had to fix things and our condo was built in the 1970's. I enjoy watching and learning about your adventures from you both, and Winston of course.

Because your pup is a toy size breed, you should never walk your dog on a collar and leash. I’m a trainer with 20 years experience, and I’ve seen some pretty bad things happen. The reason behind that is there a Soffa guess or their trachea is not quite as strong as a larger dog, so it can cause or irritate an already weak esophagus, which turns into collapsing trachea. I also recommend a harness that has a handle, this is because if a larger dog was to ever come for your dog, you could easily quickly and safely pick him up and remove him from the situation. Amazon has tons of options. I really hope you don’t take this the wrong way and I truly love watching your videos in Winston.

The jack legs front to back are different. That is natural due to the weight on them. Don’t be afraid to switch your remote to the front or an individual support, that is natural. I am thinking that you are not used to leveling your camper manually.

I remember when we first bought our van feeling so overwhelmed with what things to look for and what questions to ask. It’s such a learning process. We never quite got our roof totally sealed, every once in awhile during a heavy rain a few drops would come dripping down on us while we were sleeping, haha! I wish we were sitting there drinking a PSL with you two. We watch every video and can’t wait to meet in person someday. 💕 Xo Elliot

Thank you! It's funny that age is all perspective. So many vanlife people we follow are in their early 20's and we're over here in our mid-30's. & older = wiser! But we're all aging like fine wine, right ;)

Yes so true! Funny how generations look at life differently now. I love that many young people are wanting to experience life earlier on in more affordable ways, or just being more free and not tied down, and able to move, where as my generations ( I'm in my 60's now) a lot of us were still in the mind set of work work work for a long time, then try to enjoy it, even though many of us saw our parents try to do that ( wait for retirement ) then something happens to their health and they don't get to. This is why I am trying to keep this in mind and start my adventures in my 'semi-retirement' phase... @@honeyiroam
