Fun fact: When your flight was taxiing past all those HX planes (one being a Tianjin Airlines but still HMA group A330), there is actually a TransAero, a Russian airline Boeing 767 that have been moved there. The aircraft was left there since 2015 when TransAero went bankruptcy and completely ceased all their flight ops! There are even rumours about old in flight meals and other stuff you'll usually find on flights to be still in there. This company used to operate Boeing 747-400s and had orders for 747-8s as well as A380s! It's been said the 767 has been taking over by the Hong Kong Airport Authority/Hong Kong International Airport Academy for educational purposes and even drills for fire and police departments

Didn't realise Hainan Airlines group has Malaysian/Singaporean pilots! I actually love these HK confectionery. I used to take a train from my auntie's house in Cheung Wan to Mei Foo to a bakery under a housing estate and I would buy SO MANY buns and eat them in the spot! Delicious. And yes, I love char siew buns.

I tried business class of inbound flight back from Tokyo to Hong Kong. Honestly it is great value, it comes with lounge access and full meals. Even though no IFE is provided, I rather sleep more on the lie-flat seat.

I liked your aerial tour of HK during the departure. I have a similar couch to the one in your hotel (I believe it's called a chaise) and it's super-comfortable for watching TV at night. Would've been fun to see if 6'4 would've fit on it!!

This reminds me of my first os trip with a group to Japan about 4 or 5 years ago. Left Dwn on Qantas 787 to Syd then boarded a Qantas 747. Arrival at Narita took 14 1/2 hrs. Stayed in Tokyo hotel few days and took the bullet train to Kyota. All expenses paid by a business partner company. We only had to pay for personal items. Ausome trip 😊😊😊

Hi Mike! Driving in Japan was fun! Being able to read kan-ji helped for sure. I still missed a few turns though LOL. On the way back to NRT to drop off the car, I missed a simple turn and I had to drive extra 12km and pay 1600yen in tolls! 😮‍💨

Regarding Hong Kong Airlines they use Hainan Airlines FFQ Programme. For Hong Kongers like you is Hainan/Hong Kong Airlines Fortune Wings worth applying or choose Oneworld Alliance CX Asia Miles. Pre Covid-19 HX used A350-900s over the Pacific Ocean and served MNL on Passenger flights but now Cargo flight. On HKG-NRT/HND Oneworld Alliance CX and JL are the better choices due to them having meals.

It's funny all of the airline Partnerships that the gate staff have to remember. I was flying Virgin from Sydney to Ballina last week and I have SIA KrisFlyer Gold, which gives me Priority Boarding under their Partnership, and was told to wait, I thought the the system would have recognised my SIA FF number when I booked.
