The ADS class originally numbered 235 vehicles. The earlier batches, introduced from 1993 onwards, have all gone for scrap, and when this video was filmed (in March 2017), there were only about two dozen vehicles left in service, usually operating as spares from Lai Chi Kok and Shatin garages; I managed to catch up with 18 of them.
This last batch of short Dragons were out-dated when they were new, having been delivered in 1999, almost a year after the first low-floor Dennis Tridents started entering the fleet.
When these buses finally run for the last time (in July 2017), it will be an auspicious occasion, as they are the last step-entrance vehicles to serve on franchised routes in Hong Kong (except, of course, for Citybus’ lucky Olympians and NLB's coaches!), the last buses to be built with traditional narrow entrance doors and the last KMB vehicles to carry the white “air-con” livery. The Hong Kong street scene will be a little less interesting without them.
