I could listen to you two talk about these trips for hours... at this point in my life and in the foreseeable future, it is not possible to take a trip to that side of the world, let alone one with ABD that provides awesome luxuries and VIP experiences. I watch these videos less as an informative guide and more as entertainment. I live vicariously through the team and their incredible adventures, and love hearing about every minute of it! Thanks for sharing, guys.

I would like to add that the 72-hour visa-free transit can be a good option if you’re not planning on staying in China for a long period of time. Essentially you can travel to China without a travel visa if your trip there is considered a “long layover”, i.e. you are traveling to China from one destination, then leaving China to a destination that is different from your starting destination. There are quite a few requirements that are difficult to explain, so I would definitely do some research to see if this method works for your trip. I ended up using this option when I traveled to Shanghai this past January. Specifically, I traveled from the Philippines to Shanghai, stayed in Shanghai for 2 days to see Disneyland, then flew to Hong Kong. I just had to show proof of my hotel stay and confirmations of my incoming and outgoing flights.

Great show! I always enjoy hearing your viewpoints. As for the negative comments that people are leaving, please disregard them. It seems that some people have too much time on their hands, and they never learned the lesson of, "If you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all." The effort that you ALL put into these shows is excellent, and I always look forward to the Dreams Unlimited Travel show. Keep up the good work!!

From Seattle, it is routinely cheaper to fly to Shanghai than Orlando. Then, the costs on the ground are so much cheaper. All you need is the visa. Don't be scared just go for it!

OMG.. There are many entrances to the Great Wall. I've been there and it was an easy walk to the wall. Yes, parts of the wall is steps and steep, but it was so wonderful to walk on the wall. They really need to pick an easier access point to the wall. Also, on the first day why didn't the tour guide swap days and do a city tour that day? Or bring in Disney characters for meet and greet. They really should have done something since you all missed a park day.

I would love to have heard about the other excursions planned by ABD that Kevin/John did not participate in. Perhaps next time you could invite one of your travel companions to guest on the show and share the details of those walking tours and ferry boat rides that you both didn't partake in!
@bandgirl14815 жыл бұрын
Yes! I was a little confused as to why they choose to do this ABD when a lot of the outings centered around walking. I guess if you're not able to go on all of the outings due to mobility issues, I wouldn't pay the money to do it, knowing I couldn't participate in all of it.

Something worth mentioning, the flight from Hong Kong to Beijing is an ABD flight, not an internal flight like they mention. Hong Kong is kind of independent form China. There is even a border between Hong Kong and China, you have to go through the custom and immigration when you go from Hong Kong to China, and vice versa. They have different government, different currencies and different sets of law applied, and so on.

As well as any town with enough population to support a Trader Joe's, lol. Xiao Long Bao (known as "Soup Dumplings") can also be bought in the frozen food section of any Asian supermarket. As for "maw," I have never enjoyed it myself, but apparently it is a high-priced luxury item: www.chinesefood-recipes.com/food_articles/fish_maw_chinese_cooking.php

Hey Kevin, Craig is right that the "aesthetic writing" you mention is indeed calligraphy. I'm not sure what your interpreters told you about what the Chinese characters ("hanzi," read "kanji" in Japanese) mean, but generally they are standardized, evocative words: "wind," "China," "mountain," et cetera. The appeal comes from the skill of the artist and how well the brush strokes represent the "feeling" of the multi-stroke Chinese characters. As for the "vulgar" T-shirts in English, this is super common and imparts a certain edginess...even if the wearer has no idea what it is the shirts say. (A memorable "Engrish" T-shirt I once saw in Tokyo was "Soapy Bubbles Groovy Cruiser Kick Out the Jams M--F--." I will never forget it.)

FYI, guys, most all of the airport hotels at LAX all have Japanese sections in their breakfast buffets.

Japanese family here. Traditional Japanese breakfast includes miso soup, rice, pickles, and grilled fish, although the more modern practice of having toast (トースト) or bacon and eggs (ベーコンエッグ) is gaining popularity.

This trip seems too rushed. But I guess that’s by design for a Disney-centric trip. I would think one would want to spend more time there to get used to the jet lag alone. If I ever am luck enough to visit Japan, let alone China, ideally it would be a 2 week minimum trip. The plane ride sounds so daunting!

My husband wants to go to the Tokyo and Shanghai Disney but has he uses a Wheal chair most of the time so don’t think we will bother and just stick to the usa and France ones
@t.b.gonzalez35817 жыл бұрын
I have just visited SDR and have been to TDR, those parks are no different than that of Paris or Orlando. You have the same problems like Small World and Pirates, because of the boats. Mystic Manor does have a car for wheelchairs, like that of Ratatouille. The worst part of the your trip would be the loooong flight there and back, and getting in the aircraft . It seems that both Air China and China Eastern have plans for wheelchairs.
@sandrablade7 жыл бұрын
T.B. GONZALEZ we live in uk so used to long hall flights to get to disney as it 8 hours for us to get to Florida Paris is near as we can get train from London straight to Disneyland in 3 hours
@t.b.gonzalez35817 жыл бұрын
If you did not have a problem in Paris then there should not be a problem. Since Disney designs the Parks and Hotels with guests with disabilities The only attraction that has not been modified is the Haunted Mansion, but they could, if you have seen King Triton"s Chariot in the Little Mermaid. But renting ECV there I do not know. In my China tour, the Great Wall was the hard one. But at the wall, they did not mention the chairlift, like that of a ski resort. It is to bad they did not mention the Toy Story Hotel, I found it as good as the Riverside at WDW but a lot smaller. Maybe more fun, it overlooks Tomorrowland And you can see TRON.
@Otaqueen7 жыл бұрын
Hi Sandra, I'm not sure about the park in Tokyo itself (because I did not need a wheelchair/ECV at the time), but if you plan to get around Tokyo and sightsee, I would caution that no train station that I ever visited had a visible accommodation for public transit -- most train platforms are raised, so there will be a LOT of walking...and climbing! They're not so good about making things handicap-accessible in Japan.
@t.b.gonzalez35817 жыл бұрын
Hey Sandra, I think you know about Greyline Tour here in the U.S., They are there too, If you want a city tour or Mt. Fuji. I recommend it. Also Winnie the Pooh is trackless at TDR, but the same system.

I have been to China twice to adopt children. I've stayed in five different hotels, including in Beijing and Hong Kong. The large picture windows from the bathroom shower into the rest of the hotel room were in every hotel room we stayed in there. Not sure what it us in China that they want to see through those windows.

Hong Kong used to be a Uk territory from 1945 to 1997 so English second language and generally not a problem not so in China itself.
@RemyGambit7 жыл бұрын
Paul Ashley Hong Kong was a British territory from 1842 until 1997. In 1898 the British acquired the new territories via a 99 year lease which is the reason the handover happened in 1997 - otherwise Hong Kong island and Kowloon would have been cut off from the New Territories which made up most of the colony.

I just looked it up and Hong Kong Disneyland has like 12 rides total? I don't understand the point of even building the park at that point, let alone visiting it. Why travel that far to go to a park you could be completely done with in maybe 3 hours at the most.

Please stop tearing into them !! I did an eight day trip with TCT (very good trip) with SDR and HKDR for three nights each. After awhile you do get tired of Chinese food, or you are tired from the tour, After the great wall my tour was trying to out run the road closures for Trump. You know, back to the hotel, rest then eat. Didn't wake up till 12 am.

The reason why shanghai looks original is because the Chinese government did not allow Disney to make any reference to the U.S. which is why it could not be based on disney word or disneyland because those obviously do.

GUYS. You realize that "cordyceps" is also the real-life fungal disease that takes over the nervous system of ants and makes them climb to high places where they can get picked off by predators, right? (It's also the cause of the zombie apocalypse in the PS4 video game, "The Last of Us.") Pretty sure I'd eat huitlacoche ("infected corn," look it up) before I'd try cordyceps, lol.
