I lived in HK 2001-2005, just a few blocks from North Point market (on Wharf Road) so it was nice to follow this ride again. HK is very dear to me and I still visit my local friends frequently (last time was in january 2020 and I'm itching to come back). What a day you picked to shoot this video! Beautiful blue skies, I really miss those rare days in Hong Kong. Thanks for the video😀💯

The North Point market where the ' Ding Ding ' goes in & out has the best Shrimp noodles (many brands but here is the best). My cousin always brings me some when she is visiting Bangkok.

The ' Ding Ding ' is a must when I was in Hong Kong from my home in Bangkok. I was a student in Hong Kong from 1956-65 & staying with my 4th Auntie (my second Mom) on Tai Hang Road. After college in America, I always took my late Mom to HK, especially during the Handover in 1997 many times. I would find half a day to go on the double-deck ' Ding Ding ' VISITORS TO HK SHOULD TAKE A RIDE IN THIS ROMANTIC ' DING DING '!

Nevertheless, this video is too long & could be shortened to just half an hour - otherwise, it is so BORING.

The oldest is the peak tram 1888. Hong Kong Tram Company founded in 1904.

Sydney Australia & the rest of Dock double tram buses from the upper second deck like a ferry with two storey building like with Victorian two storey building’s fromthe steel awnings balconies with the bridge extending out from the buildings & tram. While cutting cost in architecture where developers refuse to spend any additional money in avoiding to build platforms or stations.As remember been proven in Hong Kong & parts of Paris.

Thanks for sharing the video. We will go in 2026 and we will ask for the Octopus card. Do we have to swipe the card when entering the tram/MTR and when exiting too? How do we know the price of the journey and how do we know if we have enough money on the card for the journey? It's very strange

I see so many buses that I have to wonder if these trams, and all the required infrastructure & road space is worth it? Are they still an effective mode of public transport or are they kept around for tourism? Of course being electric is a plus, but they just seem to consume so much of the crowded precious road space, and they appear to be so slow.
@StephenWong142 жыл бұрын
The cheap fare (HK$3 ~ US$0.4), high frequency and great accessibility makes them very useful for short-distance travel in Hong Kong Island. During peak hours trams are actually quite packed.
