I BELIEVE IN YOU SAM! You won’t kill that new pothos basket! The umbrella plant just went into a state of underwatering when you guys were away, then the spider mites prey on plants that are stressed (they apparently emit stress signals) and then when you came back and watered the soil likely became hydrophobic and didn’t take up water. If the umbrella plant hasn’t died died, you might wanna do a repot and use a self watering pot (especially for when you guys are away). The pothos basket will do well in the home though. I believe in you! 🧡

My secret sauce to saving finicky plants is to water it using water from bottled spring water. It’s not ideal bc it’s pricey that way but I do it when something needs saving. For some reason, some plants just don’t like all the minerals and different things that are in tap water. Just something that works for me!

beautifully made your video guys, and it's inspiring for me to travel to those places where you have been to... Regarding your umbrella plant, make your hands dirty and re-pot it, check for dead roots, break the soil if it's too compact, and check if the pot has good drainage. A new potting mix is a good idea. As a European (Swede to be precise) I would never leave Asia if I were you! I've lived in Malaysia (awesome food and coffee) been to Thailand once, Singapore and Indonesia several times. Good luck with the tree! Try this watering style. Move it to the bathroom and water it deeply (let two or three watering cans of water run through the pot and drain out ) and then move it back to its spot. Let the soil dry again before watering deeply. When I switched to this method of watering most of my plants bounced back and appear much happier - rather than little bits of water (which doesn’t permeate the soil and then the plant doesn’t absorb it) Also plants are fussy…. Maybe it doesn’t like the spot it’s in! Only try one thing at a time. Start with the watering cycle 🤞 I’m not an expert on plants but it made a big difference for me 🙏
