After watching Anna, I hate to say it but it looks like she’s keeping her from the tit so she doesn’t hang off it all the time like other babies. The never leave the mom alone and are like Velcro. She just started earlier so as she becomes older shes more independent. I believe she’s raising her to be tougher. She cares for the baby and grooms and feed her in the trees where there’s privacy, but on the ground she’s teaching her how to survive.

While some of this looks like mom has reason do disciple, I have to ask what she thinks baby has done. VO's tend to set babies up to being blamed because they know people like to watch mom's discipline babies. This is not because baby is grabbing fur and holding on - they are born to do that as its up to baby to stay attached to mom, not up to mom to hold on to baby. Its how they have evolved. Moms also knows that they eat to produce milk and that while they have milk then as long as baby can get to the teats, which is their role in getting the milk, then its there to feed on. However why do the teats look so dried up? VO's have a trick of following a mother and baby and doing things that make the mother push baby away and if that happens enough moms body will begin to think baby does not need milk and the milk will dry up. Milk is only produced if there is a baby actively nursing around the clock. VO's also know that if they distract the baby and fill it up with food, which will not do much for baby except make them too full to nurse, moms body will get the same message. VO's have also put drugs in food that will dry up the milk. Once the milk starts drying up and mm begins to get teh idea that its time to wean, many fights will ensue over baby trying to go back to the teat. We see VO's film stuff like this hap-p0en a lot and make a story that the mother is being a bad mom and not letting baby nurse and is being abusive, when if fact it often many things they have done to cause mom's milk to dry up and mom think its time to wean. Monkeys really have no idea how old a infant is and if its old enough o stop nursing or way too young. But they pay attention to their body's and if their body is saying no more milk they think they are doing the right think by making the baby accept that and become more independent and better at getting there own food. And when the baby is really too young to be without milk and its body craves milk and wants to nurse, it has no idea why all of a sudden mom is blocking that. Baby freaks out over its frustration at not getting to nurse and mom get angry as baby will not stop demanding to do something it no longer needs. And you can end up with some big rows between mother and child and often within the immediate family troop too. Some females may not under stand why mom is trying to wean, and will actually go to mom and mess with her teats to see if there is milk there. the females that tend to be confused by it are the ones that also have infants born in the same cycle because they know they are no near weaning; then there are other females who are not presently nursing that will side with mom, especially if they have had a hard to wean child and you might see them offer to babysit and even try to keep baby away from bothering mom for milk and using their own disciple to make the baby stop asking for something it should no longer need.

This. This is the answer I've been looking for as to why the mothers do this to newborns. It never made sense to me that weaning would start at birth. I watch the Vervet Monkey Foundation channel, and they pair orphan monkeys with foster mothers. The females are NOT lactating but still allow their foster babies to latch onto the nipple as long as it wants to for comfort. None of them behave this way, because they are not followed and harassed constantly.

I have no way of being certain, but I'd bet you're assuming every bit of that concerning the VOs. I feel that stating something that is an opinion or assumption as fact is far too common these days. Also, from everything I've read and just my general take on animals, they aren't capable of thinking far enough into anything like, I had an infant so I'm going to help because I know how it is. An animal's brain isn't capable of reasoning like us. People project human characteristics onto these things big time. That's just my take, though, I'm no expert.

Gisela McCurdy that monkey feeds her baby all night up in the trees. When she comes down it’s her turn. She has to eat in order to breast feed and it takes a lot of energy. The baby is healthy and does not need the humans to feed it. There is nothing wrong with what the mother is doing. It’s not like she can tell the kid to go sit in the corner. That’s how monkeys train their young. ALL MONKEY MOMS DO IT. You only see this happening when mom needs a break. You can’t base a whole day in her life on 15 minutes of a video. She can’t walk around with that thing hanging from a tit all day. It’s not even logical to expect her to. If you encourage the vo’s to feed that baby you run the risk of getting her abused or killed. If you have watched any of these videos then you will know a monkey as wild as Anna will not let anyone anywhere near alba. and if they do attempt to feed her then Anna will grab the food up. cause that's how these monkeys are. alba isnt hungry. her mom feeds her multiple times during the day. this is only a ten minute video that is peiced together to show the worst part of her day. no doubt in my mind that Alba eats plenty. there are several other VOS that actually show her nursing often. if she was truly starving she wouldn't have the energy for all them damn tantrums or hopping an clinging to mom constantly. Alba it’s moms time to eat, not yours. When are you gonna learn? Anna gives her clear instructions & Alba refuses. No reason Alba should cling to mom. Look at all the other babies in the other troops. They are roaming around, jumping & climbing all over everyone, looking for a stick, a cup lid, a soft piece of food to gnaw on. Donna Sells - You are only seeing the channels that you subscribe to and only what the VOs select for you to see. Anna feeds her on schedule just like the other moms. First 2 weeks of life they nurse 90%. From then on they eat soft solids/forage & are supplemented by moms milk 70-50% of the time. She always nurses Alba up in the tree throughout the day, she grooms her, protects hers and teaches her. When Anna comes down from the tree it’s moms time to forage/eat so she can survive herself & to make the milk for Alba to drink. Alba only wants to suckle at that time. You can see her on moms teat sucking but never swallows. Anna isn’t her binkie. If you watch Delena from Amaris Troop, they are the same age. You don’t see Delena glued to DeeDee every minute of the day. She’s off playing, foraging, climbing, exploring her environment, etc. It’s sad to watch Alba but she’s not a human & you cannot put Anna in a human role. She’s a very good mom to Alba. These are animals & behave as such. Anna could have abandoned her long ago & left her to die. She didn’t. She’s doing the best she can with a baby that obviously has a problem. I can't wait for Anna to have her new baby!! She should be going into labor soon... I'm so excited to se how she is with it.. I'm hoping she'll have a baby boy this time. Rozy is also very pregnant and should be going into labor within the next few days!!!

@@veronicarobison5019 we see other mothers taking care of their children with patience and care, Anna is violent, beats needlessly and leaves the puppies hungry...I compare with other female monkeys, Ally with Albert, Rosy with Rockstat and Ashley with Amanda...🙄

The first two weeks they are newborns and vulnerable. They need to cling to their mother for warmth, they cannot regulate their body temp. Clinging is essential to their development. Weaning an infant that has no teeth and cannot forage for itself is just wrong😢
