Very interesting Hone Video, Joe! So, in contrast to stropping, you push the blade forward. Sometimes short, sometimes long. And what I notice is that you also change the pressure. Very interesting. At the beginning you used a stone or whatever it was to go over the grindstone. What is that? Have a great weekend

Hi Robert, thanks for watching! I use a diamond plate to prep and clean the surface of the stones, or build up a slurry, before I start working on them. It also helps to ensure the honing stone is flat.

I use kapton tape. So the spine is protected. The tape has very thin so it's almost the same as no tape.

How are you enjoying your black shadow? I have that same stone, it gives good keen edges but can be boring for me sometimes, feels like honing on glass

I like it. A little glycerin gives it a nicer feel.
