Some of Ebi's gripes are pretty nonsensical, but we deal with it just like she "has" to deal with them in the game. I volunteer to answer whatever I'm able to since you say you have a lot of questions design-choice-wise. Granted, some things won't have an answer, some answers will be conjecture, and a lot of things will be gameplay constraints or localization "liberties", but I'll still explain the criticisms I have some insight about.

I think it's kind of lame that you call firefly lame and don't try to engage with her narrative at all, the reason she doesn't want to be in SAM all of the time is because she wants to feel normal. if you talked to her and asked her questions she explains that S.A.M is a medical cabin for her, the only thing that sustains her life in reality, so of course in a dream she wouldn't want to be in it the whole time

I don’t care how lame you find it that someone doesn’t worship FF. They didn’t even remotely try and make Sam and FF sound like the same person. She’s supposedly able to flip between cold badass killing machine and shy, cutesy GFE at the flip of a switch, and it takes me out of it completely because it just isn’t believable. FF acts too normal, and no, having a few brief moments of FF acting like a trained Navy Seal with 35 confirmed kills does not bridge that canyon. What is the point of FF hiding her gender and identity? Welt just throws in that line that she needed to hide the fact that she’s a young girl as a throwaway line, but the existence of Silver Wolf renders that completely moot. Her catfish routine is just bizarre and off putting. As soon as I inadvertently got spoiled months back, I stopped saving. Those jades are funding Boothill now. 🔫🤠

As someone who doesn't really like the FF plot, her entire point is being who she chooses to be instead of who she was born as (the mech), concealing identity, blending in, being normal. Sam is a wanted criminal and a war machine, if you need any other stronger reason to conceal identity that's kinda crazy, and there IS more when it comes to hiding from the crew even: Elio's script. The "wife-selling" idea in the video falls flat the moment so many people were already sold on a huge fire mech too. And I don't think it's done anywhere else often enough to call it a device precisely because it's easy to have this kind of negative criticism over it.

@@ch1dd Ignored context? You can hardly ignore it with how forcefully they shoved it down our throats. Just because it is emotional (and they lay it on THICK) does not make it incredibly deep. I don’t care about coming off strong because FF fans have gotten what they wanted. I’m not punching down or anything. The problem is that FF fans feel the need to try and force anyone that shows any dissatisfaction to repent. If you haven’t, You should have seen the Sam main’s subreddit the day after 2.1 came out. It was filled with FF mains gloating and rubbing it in, mocking the idea of anyone just wanting a badass robot without an uwu anime girl stapled on. Anyways, for your point about her identity. HSR is a verse that spans multiple galaxies, with potentially many trillions of people if not more. So how would having a more feminine suit and voice do anything to reveal her identity? Okay, so you know she’s a woman now. That narrows down the suspects from let’s say 10 trillion to 5 trillion. It has no effect on anything. Also, I don’t understand your point on the wife selling bit. It’s true that people were sold on a badass robot. And that’s not what we are getting. We are getting a shy, cutesy GFE that probably puts on a mech suit for a few turns before taking it off for a few turns for some reason. Not only are they wife selling (which obviously seems to be working, people are losing their minds over her), but they effectively pulled the rug out from many previous Sam fans. Compare the Jeppela rebellion short with FF’s behavior in golden hour and tell me with a straight face that it was not a complete bait and switch. We were given an image of Sam for like half a year before we got an eye roll inducing plot twist. So yea, I’m Texan pilled. 🔫🤠

It's sounding like you're just tired of the "mains" (just insufferable people online by the sound of it), when this comment just said it was lame to chalk her character to a marketing ploy, basically arguing in your own head instead of what the person here is saying. A tall male and a short female are worlds apart, so much so you think it's jarring how different they are and don't like it, yet you think it doesn't reduce the scope enough. Pretty contradicting, almost shortsighted, without even going into demeanor the appearances already make her perfectly inconspicuous. I won't comment on the wife selling part, because you're clearly avoiding early footage. Just know you have a lot to say for someone making plain assumptions.

I think you tends to forget that small words are different meanings than usual, when you were screaming about small words that didn't need to be there. It's actually part of the lore, those words aren't meant to taken like usual such "enigmatic" and "fictionalogist". Even when you forgot about Gallagher being a follower of Enigmata, which is mentioned at the end of previous part of 2.1
