@@wriri well, from what i’ve understood, he didn’t fail at reviving her. to be exact, he changed the past and it created a separate timeline. nothing was affected to the people in the present. if you’ve fought Otto with Bianka and Kiana, he says to them something along the lines of him needing an outer power to get away from the “responsibility” of the Imaginary Tree and that indirectly, Bianka and Kiana gave that outer power for Otto to become free from the Tree and achieve his real goal, which is to save the Kallen in the past. i may or may not be wrong so if someone knows better, feel free to correct me. but yeah, that’s what i’ve understood

One of the best parts is that you can unabashedly root for Otto in this. You want to believe that all the sins he's stained his hands with, all of the betrayals, manipulations... it can't have been for nothing. Thus, when he struggles in this, when he falls, you genuinely want him to get back up, to _win._ Otto willingly chose to play the villain, all for this one moment. He doesn't look to be forgiven, nor does he expect it. No matter what he has to do, it is enough. He's such a brilliantly written character, and it all culminates here. Safe to say, Honkai Impact's story is gonna feel a whole lot emptier without him.

Honestly, I have a sneaking suspicion that Sirin just didn’t know how to locate her mother’s soul at the time. I mean Otto was able to revive Sirin. What if the imaginary tree was set up so that Kallen had to die in every time line to turn Otto mad. While we see him as a villain his actions have a huge net positive. He never directly tries to revive someone else. What if he could but he just couldn’t revive Kallen. So as to drive him to carry the world to the point where it didn’t need him no more? What if the most heroic thing Kallen did in her life was to die so her follower would become the villainous hero to the timeline.

For me, the beauty in Otto's story lies in knowing how it feels to love someone as deeply as he did Kallen. The lengths you would go... The sacrifices you would make... The evil you would become... The mountains you would move... His was a journey of determination beyond what most would know. All for the sake of giving the love of his life her fair chance to live. The very same chance she gave to him. As unforgivable as his actions were to achieve this... It will never take away how human his desire was. Something we all have felt, or will at some point... I despise what he allowed himself to become, but I don't hate him for it... If anything, I always understood him, and could at the very least respect him for seeing it through to the end. Hands down, some of the best writing in gaming this generation... And from a waifu collector lul

I remember when I started my journey with Honkai, I wasn't a fan of this character. At first I thought he will come out as somewhat quirky villain, but nothing really special. Back then, at the very beginning, I didn't know how emotional I would get over him. Talking with friend I used to joke about how I "hated" this man. I wasn't that serious, he was a neutral character for me... man, how wrong I was back in the day. His self-awareness made me realize how good-written he was, whole this time. I'm not about to say that he was the hero of the story. He never was supposed to be one. He did loads of very, very horrible things and yet...he became one of my forever-favourite characters in this story. I'll miss you, Otto. Thank you, miHoYo, for such a great character, and the voice actors for amazing job over these years.

the one thing i can agree with him is 1 thing. Heroes don't get the ending they deserve and they sometimes gets punished for doing the right thing. After seeing firefly in HSR and watching this cutscene again, it really made me want to get back on honkai impact 3rd and play it again just purely for the story, but I’m just still not sure if I should fully dive back into honkai impact 3rd to catch up. Kallen and Otto story is really one of favorite one, man… how I will miss these moments so much.
