I was born in 1974 and grew up listening to the great and unique voice of John Conley...When he sung the first word there was no mistaking who it was.....Thank You for this interview and for not forgetting the ones that paved the way Tracy....👊

'72 and remembering some of the best years of country music in the late 70's and 80's. 1990/1991 marked the beginning of the end, mostly due to Garth.

Also born in 1974. I didn't' learn about John Conlee until 1991, when I discovered country music. It's good to see he is a long-lived guy who has a lot of smarts.

I’m finding these interviews a little later than most. I love your podcast, but I love that your honky Tonkin series has a lot of the old classic singers on it. I’ll be seeing you on the country music cruise in January, I was thinking that although it might be a little bit of a headache preparing for it, that cruise might be a great opportunity to record a couple podcasts. You will have some good artists at your fingertips all week.

Mr Conlee thank you sir and i thank God for you. why did John never do a duet? can you imagine conlee's voice and ronnie dunns lyrics..in a duet -holy moly

John Conlee seems like a Renaissance man. Sure, there's always someone more successful, but he seems to have the ability to function in a lot of settings and manage the business of life, as well.

One of, if not thee, best interviews of John I have ever seen or enjoyed. Just when you think you know everything you could know about the man and his music, this fine upload pops up. So appreciate this Tracy. (Love all your stuff too btw!) I do wish we could've heard just a few seconds of John's music you played at the beginning and end of each record. (Doesn't KZbin allow so many seconds?) Anyway, great, great insightful and fun interview. I've been a HUGE fan if John and his music since a young kid of only 16. I'll be 59 in April. Own and know by heart every lyric that's ever rolled off the man's tongue. -oO( 🎼🎻🎶 )Oo- Ps. Tidbit: Bet you didn't know John used to (and still does probably) love to snack on raw eggs and crackers. He'll crack open a farm fresh egg into a bowl, add a little black pepper, stir it up well with a fork and spoon it out atop saltine crackers. He likes to joke that it's his secret for keeping his sexy, girlish figure. Lol...

i tapped out on new "country" about 2005. there's a few songs here or there now but tons of these song aren't remotely country. there's been pop country since the 60s but it wasn't 90% of the genre.

Would it have killed Conlee to say one complimentary thing about his host in a 40-minute interview? Maybe "I liked your record on 'Sticks and Stones' when it came out, and how you were carrying on the country tradition." Anything? Usually there's a bit of mutual stroking in these sit-downs. Of course, Conlee said he stopped listening to country radio when they stopped playing Haggard's new singles, so maybe he never heard of Tracy Lawrence.
