To all Hama-kos, Greetings from the Weise Kids--Elaine '60, Ed '63, Mike '64, and Marilyn '66. We lived up in 376 Bayview and on Sagami Bay in Hayama and Akiya before that--from 1956 to 1965. "Those were the days, my friends."

Yo-Hi class of 70! Lived in Area 1 by the road going up the hill...Remember this area well. Used to hang out at the cafeteria eating french fries with brown gravy.

It was my home from 1962 to 1966. Loved every day of it. I commuted to Yokosuka to work.

Thanks for posting this. My family lived there from about 59-62, right next to the bay. Even though I was 7 when we left, I still have a lot of memories of the place.

Wow I’m so lucky to find your upload of Honmoku. Went to Byrd from 69 to 74 and Kinnick from 75 to 77. I was searching for a picture of Kinnick Middle. Thank you! Although felt sad to see the picture of dismantling of the building. Gosh good ol days! Used to walk over to the PX area and ate at the cafeteria. So ‘Natsukashii’ the theater, commisary, bowling alley. Remember riding the ‘shiden’ trolley when it was still running. It was such a great time for me, wish I could go back... Thank you for uploading rare photos of the Kinnick!

I still remembered it like yesterday. I was on the other side of the fence. I went to Ootori Junior Highschool from 1971 to 1973. This photo must be taken from the 3rd floor of my junior high school building. I was a little jealousy about the Olympic size pool. I came to the U.S. after high school in 1976. I have lived in the U.S. ever since. I currently live in Beaufort, SC and working as an artist. Thank you so very much for the nice memory!
Thanks for the great memories. I was part of the last graduating class (in 1971) from the high school (YoHi) in Yokohama.

My wife and I lived in Area 1 from 1962 to 1966. Our boy was born in the Yokosuka naval hospital in 1963. When he was about 3 years old I would take him to the Seaside Club stag bar on Saturday afternoons. He would sit at the bar chatting in Japanese with the Japanese bartenders and have a Coke while I played shuffleboard. He learned some Japanese language from our house keeper. This brings back fond memories. I wish my wife was alive to see it.

Thank you for uploading this~!! So natsukashiiiiii. The PX and the commissary seemed so much bigger when I was a kid. Remember the "Stop n' Shop" (like a convienient store) and the "Swinging Alley"? and ofcourse the Teen Club behind the Bill Chickering!?! Sigh…those were the days!!!

I loved all the action shots. Maybe a part 2, if you can? Are these your pictures?
