To all the people complaining about the 1. physics (and lack thereof), 2. the girls not being properly outfitted, and 3. the match-ups and the results, keep in mind the following: This anime (Shirobako) is about a group of young girls that are trying to get into the animation industry. The clips from this music video are from the anime they created. As they were trying to get into the industry, they were likely more focused on showcasing their talents (y'know, making something that looks and sounds cool) as opposed to technical accuracy. It's not some military drama where everything has to be technically accurate. They're fighting in antiques because the enemy screws up the electronic systems of their modern fighters. As for how they're actually able to win, it's your typical anime BS: "these characters are just so awesome that they're able to use a bunch of obsolete jets to shoot down modern, top tier jets that are being controlled by some alien AIs". Really, the "plot" and absurdity of it all makes me sick, but it's still entertaining to watch as a music video like this. If you're interested in watching it (it's even more ridiculous than it looks, though it does give some context), it's Shirobako Special Episode 2.

He said jets didnt engage planes with props since if by some slim chance the jet missed the pilot of the Prop owned the jet when it flew past . IronSaint well to be fair or some of them are wearing G suits so that counts for something..... also the Japanese F1 and the F-4 Phantoms are actually modern reproductions Japan acquired the license to produce these aircraft themselves with modern avionics and stuff they are capable of competing with 4th generation aircraft like the F-15 but saying that it could compete against a 22 Raptor is a little bit over the top

If only the f22 and the f35 actually had live combat under the belt, would I agree. I know this is 8 monthes ago, but mock dog fights vs actual dogfights is like comparing apples and oranges. Also not 100% sure when it came out anime wise, but there was major issues with the 22 and the 35, in terms of knocking out or killing the pilot out right do to issues involving the o2 system. in fact It was such a big problem that the ceiling was lowered to 36k feet if i recall correctly

Now a lot of us have complained about modern birds getting manhandled by cute girls in older Fighters. Well, something to note, is that F-4 and E-2 are still in service and they are both from before the F-15. A number of aircraft could have been used in this Anime, but F-4s are actually not that old and some modifications DID give them abilities of F-16 Falcon and F/A-18 Hornet, but the Phantoms just weren't further developed at the time. Now, speaking strictly technically, the F-14 Tomcat, F-15 Eagle, F-16 Falcon, and F/A-18 Hornet could have been stood in for the F-4 Phantoms. While we think of Eagles as 'Modern' Fighters, they're actually from the 1970s. So technically, the earlier versions, the F-15A and F-15B could stand in here. Alongside them, of course, are the earlier F-14A Tomcats. Same with F-16A Falcon and F/A-18A Hornet. Now, that's just American fighters. The Mirage series also come from the 1960s/1970s depending on version. These French planes would not be out of place if used in their earlier forms. Among the types were the Mirage F-1, which is a different frame from the more common Mirages we known, and the Kfir would still be combat capable against F-15s and in the hands of a skilled pilot, might given F-22s and F-35s a hard time. I would, personally, not put anyone in a MiG-21 Fishbed. It's a deathtrap, but what else is new about Soviet/Russian designs? Additional MiGs would be the MiG-25 and MiG-31, which were good planes themselves and both made to be Interceptors. For the Susies from Sukhoi, Su-27 Terminator also came out in the late 1970s, so would be a potential Fighter to appear. Which honestly, except for the Su-27, the rest of the Sukhoi Aircraft were either obsolete, poor, or Ground Attackers like the Su-24 Fencer, which would have had poor A2A capabilities. The Mitsubushi F-1 surprises me honestly. While Japan's first domestic warplane since WW2, it was not a Fighter. It was geared towards Anti-Ship and CAS roles. It only carried four Sidewinders for self-defense, but could have been added, because it was Japan's first domestic Fighter built since WW2. For Swedish birds, the SAAB 35 Draken has a good reputation. But it was developed in the 1950s. On the other hand the SAAB 37 Viggan was from the same era as the Soviet and American birds I've mentioned. Much better as a Fighter too than the older 35 Draken. The best the Brits, Germans, and Italians had to offer was the long storied Panavia Tornado built jointly by the three.

In Texas, I'll keep a loaded gun, same with New York, but in Washington, Oregon, and California? Depends on where I am in those States. MiG-27 is a fighter-bomber with smaller nose section, so it is MiG-23, Stratofreighter is C-97, IAI Nesher is a version of Mirage 5 (no canards, I can't find it here) + there are some other types of planes.

I love how the F-22 pulls a move only 1 aircraft has ever done in the past, but that was a intercepter jet that was cancelled to avoid another war between the US and Canada. Its sad how the Avro Arrow was capable of surpassing the sound barrier in 1958 without a single german near the project. But of course, if Canada would have brought it to mass-production and sold it to all its allies, the US would be left in the dirt. But worst of all is that if the project was to be brought back, Canada would surpass the US in top air-craft quality, provider and air-force with the tech from 60 years later. Please look it up if you think somethings off. History's list of top advanced country's/unions that still exist: Germany. Canada. Empire of the rising sun/Japan. USSR/Russia. France. UK. Poland. Australia. USA.(Don't get pissed sissy pants. Stealing tech from Germany does not count as making it yourself.) China's Communist Party. (Don't get pissed sissy pants. Darkness Nighthingale also I don't think us stole German tech but bought them either that or it was a cross project(MBT70/kpz70 ) and the war wasn't really between us and Canada but rather us and Britain,Canada was unfortunately forced in due to being a British territory if I remember correctly this was in 1812.
