Thanks allot on your videos , awesome diving and spearfishing , I am learning to freedive and i appreciate for the countdown for last breath hold drop and the stopwatch timer for the dive and bottom depth info on each dive during the video , super helpful for holding my breath with you, and getting a idea on breath hold times and depths you reach , i appreciate it allot ,one of the reason i mainly watch your channel over other channels , please keep it up.

@@CaptainJackSpearo Thx Jack - can you suggest a wet suit. I'm 73 looking to suit up to increase my swim window in the Northern New England States. I always use fins. Current pair are kinda stiff about 16-18" shoe flippers. Understand if you don't have time. NP Stay safe out there. PS Lakes and rivers only these days.

Any tips on how to hold your breath longer underwater? I have gotten up to 4 minutes dry land, but rarely over 45 seconds when I'm spearing!
@MrDillon45 Жыл бұрын
I feel this. I’m rocking 2-2:40 above water but when I spear I can’t go more than a minute and it’s so irritating. I think it’s adrenaline and fear for me.

Do you find the hip firing makes shots terribly in accurate? We’ve had some lowered visibility this entire year and my shortest gun is basically too long and I find myself constantly firing without extending my arm, by necessity (if I extend it will drive the fish away). I realize a shorter gun solves this but are there any other fixes, and are hip fired shots as inaccurate as I think?
@CaptainJackSpearo Жыл бұрын
You're right that it's inaccurate. I have the roller gun and there's little to no recoil so it's much easier to hip fire. Even if it's a 120 cm gun. I wouldn't be able to do that with a traditional band gun
@bluedoggum8373 Жыл бұрын
@@CaptainJackSpearo aH makes sense. A good reason to switch but I’ll prob stick with my old guns. Thx
@CaptainJackSpearo Жыл бұрын

Getting back into spearfishing after some time off. I just got a rob allen tuna 1500 railgun. 150cm speargun. A friend who's nuts suggested I put a roller head on it. Which I am insane enough to try. Your thoughts. The 16mil bands it has on there now are very easy to load. I realize I will need a load assist to pull it back. I plan on full tension. And yes this lunatic is almost ready to get that going. But did want to ask first from someone more active now
@CaptainJackSpearo Жыл бұрын
So I actually have been told that over 120 rollers it's pointless because u don't get extra distance or penetration because when u get a bigger gun you have to get a bigger shaft and it's all relevant
@robertkeaton4904 Жыл бұрын
The only reason I might consider it is it's supposed to make the gun shoot straighter, like a heavier poundage compound bow, and less recoil. And I'm nuts. @@CaptainJackSpearo

For all the haters: Remembering to stop ski-spooning when the camera is on takes focus and concentration. Not to mention how difficult it is to slow your heart rate down.
