nice video. I am a gen 1 CRITR user (switched from the Totem) and am looking at replacing my CRITR with a CRITR2. I have seen the Hoodo and it looks very similar. Nice to see these two devices compared.

What made you ditch the Totem?

@@newgunguy4176 I actually still have my Totem and I keep in in the pack for rigging situations if I need it. However, I prefer the CRITR for 90% of rappelling situations and don't need the Totem for those. Bothe are great tools

Thank you for honest opinion. I have been looking at the Hoodoo just because it is easier to add friction on the fly. Usually use a Totem seems like a big jump.

+Galen Okazaki I’ve rappelled with the Totem on several occasions and I don’t like the lack of control it has for rappelling. The Hoodoo or CRITR get really intuitive once you start using it.

Good review. I believe them to be similar. That Hoodoo is actually second generation. The first was considerably bigger.

+Shane Wallace Ah, thanks for the correction. I obviously missed noticing the transition phase from gen 1 to this one.

@@NorthWashOutdoors I'll add that I ran into the owner of Canyon Werks in Vegas a few weeks ago. I believe Todd invented the Critr, not to mention those soon to be missed rope bags and pot shots! He had very good things to say about the Hoodoo and was impressed with the design. As far as the rope fuzz goes. I've seen that with pretty much all new devices and it settles down when the device is broken in, usually

Imlay fire 8.3 vs canyonero 9.3?

Both ropes are fantastic. I feel there is a lot more abrasion resistance in the Canyon Fire Vs the Canyonero and therefore the Fire is my rope of choice. With the Double sheath on the Fire it almost feels like a 9mm rope instead of the 8.3mm that the core is measured at.
