Thanks for the ride along. Kane appears to still have quite a bit of pride even though there is a bit of decay. The pride makes a difference !!

After living in the “beltway bubble” with all of its issues 🙄😑, it was nice to come home to this. No matter how poor, old and dilapidated people think it is, there is a peace and sanity to it that I’ve learned to appreciate.

The Kinzua Bridge, a long and tall railroad bridge, is in nearby Mt. Jewett. Its midsection was destroyed by a tornado in 2003. Still an interesting place to visit.

Kane appears to be clean and very well kept. It looks like it is holding itself together through the tough economic transition. Beautiful architecture, historic townscape, beautiful large trees and the streets appear in good pavement condition. I loved that one recently resurfaced street. Granted it has some decay and abandonment but this little community is in very good shape overall and it appears to still have some business in it.

Very peaceful and well maintained. This alone beats 99.9% of similar locations in other parts of the world. Even a 'desolate' place in the US remains a distant dream for so many other countries.

That 2nd burnt building you showed used to be a service garage with apartments above. And you didn't stop at Bells or Texas hot lunch? The log truck you were following represents Kane history. That's what keeps Kane going. The Black Cherry capital of the world. Most is sent all over the world!

Same old story. Industry moves out. Poverty sets in although this place doesn't look too bad but there are a lot of empty store fronts and shuttered factories. What does a person do to earn 45K a year in this place?
