I was going to mention the same thing! Of course, the only way to actually see that particular viewpoint,would be to be the size of a mouse….or, do all this work while the horse is standing on a glass floor🤣🤣

So satisfying as always. Does anyone have an explanation why some of us were told never to touch the frog while cleaning the hoof with a pick? I was always told it would hurt the horse. 🤔

I was also told that, I honestly cringe so hard when he shaves the frog because from what I've been taught that would hurt a lot. edit: I'm sure there's a valid reason, and this guy is a professional, I'm just an amature rider and worker I really don't know that much.

The frog should be trimmed or “neatened” on a regular schedule. The frog grows at the nearly the same rate as the hoof wall but exfoliates or “sheds” as a unit two or more times a year.

Would wild horses also benefit from this level of care or is it mostly domesticated horses that need it? It just seems like a lot of work to maintain something that seems it should be self maintaining although obviously isnt
@snail5834
@snail5834 2 жыл бұрын
I know this is late but bare with me. In the wild, horses travel over sometimes very rough terrain which naturally wear down the hooves. Wild horses also can travel for miles each day which is much more than domesticated horses.

0:21 - how come you guys always do like one side of the frog and then use the other tool for the other. Like you forgot that you were using the wrong tool? Another farrier cuts the toe and stuff and then swipes the tip of the frog and then uses the frog tool. Do you guys forget that you aren’t using the right tool or smt?
