A repair that would have run at least $200-300 at a shop cost me $40 and that included a run to the hardware store to get a properly sized rivet. The inside door handle that has been giving up problems for a few years now and broke off in my hand last week is now fixed.

You do no have to remove the steel door panel. Drill out the rivet . Take the lock and door rods loose. Put it back together.. Done!!!

Thank you. With new found confidence after watching videos I gave it a whirl. My door lock mechanism had come undone the two rivets were toast. The handle had no rivet as well and turned out the rod came off of handle and door lock was blocking my window from going down. No money needed, handle works as well as window including electric lock

It doesn't matter. The rod that connects to the door lock slider can be moved by hand to either the locked or unlocked position.

Lisle makes a nifty trim pry tool. Like a bent really wide spade screwdriver that has a slot cut out of the middle of the blade (so you can slide it around a trim snap/fastener). has a red handle and a black rubber fulcrum that slides up and down the shaft. Ingenious tool, i have used it for all kinds of stuff beyond what it's meant for. But trim is a breeze with it.

I just bought the generic one at AutoZone. For a big rivets, you have to buy an extra large sized rivet gun.
