Great job!! I've seen a number of videos on the hook serve and this one does the best job of explaining (in just 5 minutes!) exactly how to generate backspin and top spin with the same bat angle...

Thanks! Especially the concept of generating topspin by just letting the ball drop on the bat is something that has eluded me before

what we really need are videos on how to return a good hook serve.

OK, noted. Maybe I will cover the way to do that in the future 💪

when you are unsure, you can chop the ball in his highest point aiming for the middle. this may lack of quality but better this than an unforced error.

I like the way you explain the movement. Your tone is just right , soft but with power. Keep them coming. I know a huy that did very well this serve , what happened that now he lost the twist ?

Nice video. The explanation of the philosophy of not going for a ton of topspin, but rather fooling the opponent was very helpful clarification, and the contact point diagram was also beneficial. Keep it up!
@Brezinski10002 ай бұрын
You can only fool the opponent if he is at the level where he's trying to read the spin and gets it wrong. Consider that lower level players...say 1600 players....do not even try to read spin. So the server must quickly recognize if the receiver is good against top spin or underspin and use that knowledge in which serve he concentrates on. I play guys who cannot read spin and simply play top spin better than under. So, I give them a heavy dose of under. When they eventually realize they are not handling the underspin well and try to raise the return, I then throw in topspin, and they push really high or long. Just my experience. I try to fool, like 2000 level players who read spin

Hi there! Thanks for video. However, please keep in mind the official table tennis rule for serving "The server shall then project the ball near vertically upwards, without imparting spin, so that it rises at least 16cm after leaving the palm of the free hand and then falls without touching anything before being struck." At 4:31 This is obviously not "near vertically". So long.

Perfect tutorial to learn to f... the rules 😁. Could be just a bit better for hiding.
@Brezinski10002 ай бұрын
My experience is that lower level players only get beaten with the backspin if they are attacking players and attack the serve. It's easier for them to hit topspin. If its a defensive player who pushes, they push the backspin over but have trouble with the topspin which they push high or off the edge of the table. So a quick assessment needs to be made of the type of player receiving the serve. But this is true for every type of serve. Right???

Easy to watch, but hard to do.. hehe..
@sundarrajan29013 ай бұрын
Your technical aspects are good. But, while making a tutorial videos you guys need to be very careful on serving rules, since everyone watching here to learn something and it needs to be perfect. The toss should be vertical and your body and racquet need to motion towards the ball.

i have hard times doing it short. i try to make the ball bounce low close to the net but a lot of time the serve is still long
@InspireTableTennis3 ай бұрын
I can understand. This serve uses the normal grip, so it is harder to control the length of the serve compared to the pendulum serve.
@citylidamj88983 ай бұрын
Do you know how to do it on penhold grip 😮
@InspireTableTennis3 ай бұрын
Hmmmm, I think usually people do it with the reverse penhold grip. Perhaps you could take inspiration from Felix Lebrun or Xu Xin.

The serve is illegal. The angle of the toss is far more than 20°
@DasFedor2 ай бұрын
Tossing is so far away from being vertical. Proper referee will never confirm this serve

TOSS IS NOT STRAIGHT
@Blueros.6942 ай бұрын

toss it higher so it would look more vertical 🎉
@brainsmasher40623 ай бұрын
One of my major current problems is returning this serve. I think.
@InspireTableTennis3 ай бұрын
This one really is difficult to return. Especially if it is short. If your opponent serves it long and you are not sure about the spin, I would recommend just attacking the ball. It is generally better than pushing it.
@birthright94Ай бұрын
illegal serve, you're throwing the ball at yourself at 30 degree angle, toss has to be almost vertical.
@marcelaquiladj2 ай бұрын
ur service is illegal. ball isnt vertical and also hidden by your shoulder.

Wybacz ale nie mam pojęcia jak to robić. W filmu niestety to nie wynika. Opowiadasz o tym ale ja nie widzę różnicy w ruchu (punkt dla Cienie) a przy nauce to nie ma sensu. Słabo uczysz.

Personally this video taught me quite a lot, maybe you just need to try a bit harder before accusing someone of being bad.
