I think that scene on the bench was important because Emma finally opened up to him about why she runs. She's letting him in even if she says she wants to leave Storybrooke (and by extension him) behind. Also, when Hook asks "Don't you care about them [your parents] or anyone in this town?" he was clearly asking if he cared about HIM. The way she answered "Of course I care." in a soft, gentle voice tells me she knows what he's asking...and she's opening up to accepting her feelings for him. Finally, Hook following her through the portal is really big. For just about the first time in her life, someone FOLLOWED Emma. It would have been easy for him to stay back in Storybrooke, but he chose to follow her. Here, once again, like always, he's choosing HER.

I think that is what I loved about the finale is seeing how connected they are now to each other , how he forces her to connect to her emotions , her feelings ... how he gently nudged her to embrace all of them no matter the depth of them . their was an intimacy and closeness in the finale which all season Emma has run away from when it comes to Killian ... I loved seeing her emotional vulnerability , when it came to him allowing him to bear witness to her pain her inner struggle especially with regards to her parents and her true identity and to see her embrace it in the finale due to his encouragement and love , his strength it was gorgeous, simply beautiful and magical ... to see her embrace her heart every part of it , her family her parents and finally him.

Hhhhh yay finally I got to the scene that prompted this rewatch of mine. That scene on the bench has always been so underrated by fandom. The way she opens up to him, clearly tells him that she cares about him... oh, I do so wonder what would have happened if they hadn't been interrupted by the time portal... she was clearly just throwing excuses at him, there was no real fire behind them. She's SO scared. Poor Emma.

I love that probably in the whole history of television Hook is the first hero to go "this is too big of a danger, we aren't gonna mess with any of that stuff" and tries to sensibly run away instead of being like Emma and going head-first into danger. Amen, mate, finally someone sensible! :DD

Another moment of Emma being not to bright, she practically ran into the portal. What exactly did she think she could do to stop it? I also love Hook's last line. "One of these days" lol, but I don't I believe him. He did say "I'm in this for the long haul". He willingly spent 300 years trying to get revenge for his first love's death. It took him this long to find true love again, I'm thinking he'd be willing to fight for Emma's heart just as long. We all know his life was empty without her. Thankfully her stubbornness didn't last much longer though. Only Hook could stick it out long enough to knock that wall of hers down.

What did ever make Emma believe she may just "take" Henry? Now that her true memories were back, she knew Henry's mother was Regina who clearly didn't want him to leave.

I think if she really tried to leave, Regina wouldn't have let her take Henry unless it's what Henry wanted, but it clearly wasn't. Emma was never really going to leave.

I don't truly understand this scene. I understand that Emma wants to know where her home is and she says she cares about her parents but if she cares why is she leaving them all over again? Does she truly care at this point?

+Ailish Gardner She wants to go back to a normal life, she is surrounded by fairy tales and magic and her time in New York has made her yearn for a normal life again for both her and her son. Imagine living in New York, imagine living and working there, no magic, fairytale just a good honest life then imagine being dropped right back into that world but still thinking you have the option to go back to your old life. There is also the danger factor too as Emma would want to protect Henry especially after his life is threatened by Zelena.
