Hooke Road 4X4 recently reached out to me to test some of their products. I landed on their rock sliders as it is one of the few things I have yet to upgrade on my JKU. I soon found out the Hooke Road rock sliders, and many other sliders for that matter, will not work with long arm lift kits. It's all good though as we installed these on my friend Derrick's JKU. Check them out!

I was so confused when you started the video with your Jeep, seeing the thumbnail. Too bad they wouldn’t fit on yours. But your loss is Derek’s gain! They look really nice on his rig.

Yeah I wanted to make them work but it would have required a lot of modifications to do so. Oh well. Happy to help a friend out.

Guys, I've watched a couple of your videos now and just watched a Drummond island video where a jeeps front bumper is ripped off, this is the outcome of buying cheap Chinese made parts that aren't up to the task. On top of that using a tow strap to yank a vehicle free. A kinetic rope is the only tool that should have been used for that job and not a cheap Amazon off brand rope. These might look the part but it's easy to tell when you need them. These are not going to hold up. The easiest way to tell for sliders is if there's two mounting points for the 4 doors, throw them away. Outside of that, I wouldn't install hooke road products on my jeep if they gave them to me free and then paid me several thousand to run them. I just won't lead my friends and or followers down a bad path. They just aren't quality made parts. For the 4 doors, if they're bolt on style sliders they'll have 3 mounting points in order to keep the center from caving in. You do not want to dent in your pinch seems and or worse your frame, or damage your jeep at the center of that body line in any way. Major issues will come! Throw those in the trash bin. They are meant to look the part but will not hold up. Can't tell you how many times I've seen people try to actually use similar as an actual slider, not a step and run into serious problems. Additionally hooke road is notorious for powder coating being super thin and breaking down prematurely. I don't mean to come on your page and hate on something you're doing but know what you're doing and talking about. You have people who know even less watching and following and you're leading them down a costly road. I wish jeep owners did a lot more homework before modifying and wheeling their vehicles. Wish you the best and good luck to you out there on the trail!

To your points. The Drummond bumper that was ripped off was home made as my friend built that Jeep from the ground up. No one in our group had a kinetic rope at that time so we had to utilize what we had available to us. Now I keep a kinetic rope in each of my Jeeps. Regarding the sliders. I am well aware that you get what you pay for. More expensive options tend to be better in most cases but not all. I’ve never used products from Hooke Road and I figured I would give it a chance. I know it is more of a budget friendly option, and for some people, that is what they can afford and it works for them. I do see it as an upgrade over the OEM body mounted rails as it protects the side of the jeep more and is frame mounted as opposed to tub mounted. For most people, it will work just fine for easy trails. Lastly, I do this channel to encourage people to get out and explore and to do modifications themselves. I don’t have all the answers as I am learning something new every time I hit the trail or wrench on my Jeep. I’m not forcing anything on anyone and it is up to each individual person to decide what they want to do with their Jeep and how they want to wheel it.

Sad thing is I know the guy who built the bumper that got ripped off in the drummond video and he is a real dick 😅. What are your thoughts on the grumper bumper by Hooke Road, asking for a friend.

I understand what you're saying, but that step shouldn't be called a slider. .120 Dom wall tubing isn't strong enough at that length to keep from bending. It needs the mount in the center mount as well. Again, I'm not trying to be a villain here, I'm just telling you what the experience is going to be using a step as a slider. You can take to KZbin for countless videos showing you what I'm trying to tell you. I know I'm sounding like a big ole meanie but the reality is I'm trying to save you and others from a bad experience.
